New TV often says "no signal" even though HD300 is on
We got a new Panasonic plasma a while back and it has a "feature" that is driving me crazy where it will pop up a text window that says "No signal. Ensure that the external device is turned on and properly connected to the TV's input." very regularly when I turn on the system. At least half the time I'd say it does this (when turned to the Sage input).
It never did this on our previous Panasonic plasma, which didn't have that "Show a message if there's no signal detected" thing. When it does that, the only way I've been able to get it to see the HD300 is by powering the HD300 off and back on and letting it boot back up. Sometimes it sees the signal on the first power off/on cycle, other times it might take a half dozen tries before it sees it. I'm positive the HD300 is working as we've tried it on other tv's and it turns on every time no problem. There doesn't seem to be a way to turn the warning message off on the TV. It's like it's having trouble recognizing that the static Sage menu is a valid video signal (although hitting Live TV doesn't seem to help when it's having the problem). Any advice or suggestions? |

What you could try is to force the HDMI on the HD300 to be less strict. Run the extender in standalone mode and follow the menu options:
Settings > Advanced Setup > Multimedia > Force HDMI Display Mode > Enabled Then run the extender normally and see whether it does make a difference. Eddy

I had this problem a while back and tracked it down to a bad HDMI cable.
When you tested the HD300 on the other TV, did you use the same HDMI and also the same Power cable?

I've used the same HDMI cable with other components with no problem, and I've tried both the Enabled and Disabled on the Force HDMI Display Mode. It's seeming like it might be an HDMI handshake issue as a quick unplug/replug of the HDMI cable from the back of the Sage box immediately fixes the issue each time I've tried that. Just a pain to have to get up and reach into the media cabinet to fidget with unplugging/replugging each time.

This sometimes happens to me on my Visio when the output resolution is set to 1080p. I had to set the HD300 to use 1080i only. Not ideal, but it solved the problem for me.
