The weakness of the Nexus is wifi. HD works great from my laptop with 802.11ac bandwidth with plenty to spare, but I don't want to start sharing that with a player.

usb to ethernet connection works great.

NexusPlayer 69.99 at newegg.

I though the Nexus spec is wifi 802.11ac so how that a weakness.
You could always look in to hardwire ceiling wifi extender for that room.
There always the Razer Forge TV or the high price Nvidia Shield Android TV

I want to maximize the avg. throughput, getting the 600Mbs max to light up means nothing. In a way it is like choosing the right channel(s) for your router except you share the spectrum with your own devices and not your neighbours.

No need I have already have a couple of wired wireless AP zones. I suppose with routers that cost more than PC's and lots of MIMO antennae there could be fully wireless solutions, wiring GbE to my player is more practical.
