Flow for Music and "quick launch menu"

So I'm a recent convert from SageMC. Change is indeed good. I'm really liking Gemstone. The family members are getting used to it - the rebellion has been crushed.

A couple of questions:

1) What is the best flow for Music? Once in 'Album detail' the options menu doesn't include a "play album from here'. The only option is to play the (chosen) song now. Is there a way to add this?
2) Where does the Quick Launch Menu come from? I have my Hauppauge remote "GO" button set for home in linked commands. In order to get to my home flow I have to press back/exit multiple times. Other times I get the QLM in the left pane.

For item 1 as I do not yet use SageTV for Music I am not sure the best flow for this. Perhaps another Gemstone user can comment on the functionality.

QLM - the Quick Launch menu is OFF by default and can be turned on in the Menu Manager that is accessed by pressing Options from the Main Menu. In Menu Manager press Options again and there is a QLM option. Go in there and you can set how the Home/Left operate or just turn OFF QLM if you don't want to use it.

Thank you. Found the QLM option.

Any idea if you could add "play album from this song (or here)" in the options? I'm pretty sure it is in the V7 STV.

I can take a look at this...I first need to setup a music library for testing so it won't be quick and I am working on a few other items but I always thought the music side needed some attention.

It would help in the mean time if you posted some screen grabs and notes as to specifically where you expect which types of functions and then when I get to it I can ask more questions if need be.

Thanks

Here is a work-around until we get time to make the music playback interface better....

I assume you are using one of the Music Views under one of the Gemstone Flows (list Flow or Sage Flow etc). I used a Center Flow and then change the View to use Music by Album (note: this View is available in the View options menu but you need to select the Other Views options at the bottom and then Music and then Music by Album).

Then go into the Options in the Flow and select Customize. In there select "Show Play Options" so it's set to yes.

So now when you are on the top level in the Flow showing the Albums...press Play and a Play Options screen will open. Note: it is designed around Videos so it says things like play all videos but it will play music).

Let me know how this works for you.

Thank you so much for looking into this.
I'll tinker with it. I have a question though...
You mention "View to use Music by Album ".

Is it possible to have nested flows? Ideally, Music would be ordered by artist primarily. Select the desired artist and, a daughter flow artist sorted by album.

How is this done?

I have not looked but if there is a base music view available then select that. Then go into view options and add the grouping levels....level1 by artist , level2 by album and then set a sort on level 3 if desired.

It should work but I have not looked yet.

I should really check BEFORE posting

Anyway....just pick the Music view called Music by Artist. This View is already setup with Artist, then Album , then songs.

On the music front it would be good if the Sage client and mini-client could have the added functionality of receiving AirPlay and the Android equivalent of AirPlay. That is probably easier than building in support for streaming music service like Spotify, Slacker, etc.

The slimplayer plugin plus squeezebox server provides all the services you mentioned.

Can you control everything from your phone? I don't want to be typing artist or album names using a remote control?

I've never used slimplayer since I only use extenders. However, I do use the squeezeslave plugin for extenders and yes, everything is controlled from your phone.
