Forum(s) for New Sage Users

It would be great to have a Forum section or sections for first time Sage users that had a 'best practices' or cookbook for getting up and running with V9 and choosing hardware. Maybe start with stickies to lead the person through a 'decision tree' that started with type of signal or TV provider and either explained or linked to hardware choices and software add-in requirements.

Or are we still in the beta stage and it's too soon?

I can imagine that a new user who's not very IT savvy wouldn't have a clue where to find info. Personally, I'm pretty much in that category in spite of being a user for 10 yrs or so and have acquired just a little tech knowledge that I've picked up over the years - plus I enjoy the puzzle nature of finding/learning process.

In that respect, I'm grateful that there are folks on the Forum with patience and knowledge and are willing to answer what must seem like naive and often asked questions. Thank you!

Until relatively recently with the inclusion of SDEPG into the core, it's not been the friendliest situation fro truly NEW users. Now that that is in there, it does make sense to get something more streamlined set up as a guide to actual new users. Part of the issue for really new users, is the page you get at sagetv.com, which is far from welcoming...

It would be nice if someone would take ownership of creating and maintaining a SageTV web site. This is far from a being a dev task... There are number of "free" site tools out there.

But until that happens, I guess updating the Github main page (README.md) with something more welcoming with links into the Wiki would suffce... Again, while a developer could spend time on this... this is far from being a dev task. (Although I don't mind being a "proxy" for someone that wants to edit pages but can't really commit them because they don't understand "git" etc, but, once you have a github account, I'm pretty sure you can create/edit/add wiki pages at without issue, and do it entirely online)
