Question There was a playback error -4,0x80040217

I'm in the middle of an UnRaid build with SageTV 9 docker and a "clean" V9 windows install on my Windows 10 laptop. By "clean" I mean I did not install v9 on top of v7. It is a vanilla V9 client.

When I try to play a recorded OTA TV program on v9 I get There was a playback error -4,0x80040217. This was recorded from a HDHR-US for OTA digital TV from antenna.

Same file plays great on my v7 installation.

On both V9 and V7 settings I have MPEG2 Video Decoder Filter set to Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder. V7 plays fine.

What am I missing? Likely a codec, but were they included on v7? Looking for some help. Thank you!

You'll probably want to install something like LAV Filters and set your MPEG2 decoder to use those. Windows 10 doesn't have the decoders.

I installed LAV filters but that didn't fix it.

You did select them in SageTV - correct? I've missed doing that before - so just checking.

Also try setting VMR9, EVR or Default I have seen those settings cause problems

I rebooted my client laptop. Working now. Appreciate greatly everyone's help. One step closer to moving away from my legacy sage running on WHS and towards the future with Sage running on Unraid!

So here's the scoop: I didn't change any settings. Just installed LAV filters. Then when it didn't work got frustrated so shut down and watched TV on my old system for an hour. Decided to open the laptop back up give one more try and it works now with Microsoft DTV-DVD Video decoder. So I'm sure the LAV codec just needed a reboot on Win 10.
