How do I recover disk space used by Intelligent Recording? I've never used IR
My System Information screen is showing that Intelligent Recording Video Diskspace has used 285GB. I've never used IR. How do I recover this space?
Thanks, Steve |

My first un-educated guess without knowing or looking at the code, would be recordings made for favorites, where the favorite has been removed.
The system would see these recordings not as favorites or manual records, so might treat them as IR. Again just a guess.

I use IR all the time. The way to recover the space is to delete the recordings or wait until the disk fills up and have Sage delete old recordings to make room for new ones.

If you've never used IR then I don't know for sure, but another possibility might be recordings that got "lost" and end up in the imported files section. I have seen bad recordings that SageTV aborted due to signal issues, bad channels, failed conversions, etc end up in the imported directory.
I use IR all the time so I have no way of seeing if the amount of IR is changed due to mis-identified recordings showing up in imports or not. Another way of them showing up there is during some upgrades. Changing recording/import directories and SageTV losing track of recordings that it can't "resolve" and merged back into the regular recordings directories. (i.e. usually drive swaps, rebuilding systems and not having the exact same drive/folder structure for the Recording/Import directories.)

Found it! I had recently changed two favorites from active to blocked through a plugin I recently installed. The shows that had been recorded for these favorites were still available but Sage had reclassified them as part of IR. I reactivated the favorites and the IR disk space went to zero.
Thanks to all of you for your help. Your comments gave me clues as to what might be going on. Steve |

Interesting find Steve. I wasn't aware that is what would happen with that plug in. I don't use the plug in, but have seen it in the list of plug ins available. I just never had a good reason to install it.
I wonder if the plug in itself is making them look like IR recordings or if SageTV is doing it? IMHO, if it was the plug in then I would think a better option might be to mark them as manual recordings rather than IR. Maybe it has to do that so when you un block a favorite it can more easily turn them back into favorite recordings?
