HDHR Dual setup

I am doing a first-time setup of an HDHR dual tuner. I installed the Silicon Dust software, scanned there, and the expected channels are found and can be viewed via the native HDHR app. I am trying to scan in Sage (a new 32-bit install of 9.2.2), and it isn't finding any channels at all. Host system is running Windows 8.1.

I have it set to scan digital antenna, which is what it's connected to.

I tried various settings on the HDRH: the obvious "SageTv," the default "Windows MEdia Center," plus "Jriver." Same results. I'm trying to set this up on a secondary server to serve as an emergency temporary backup while I work on either fixing or replacing my ailing main server.

EDIT: Never mind! I found the problem. Buried in one of the Sage config settings I saw that it thought it was tuning QAM rather than antenna. Corrected that, and I think I'm in business!!

Given your username, I was going to suggest the VCR/TV button was set wrong.

It just shows how long ago I started using Sage (when NTSC was about to go away). My currently-5, possibly growing number of Sage tuners replaced 4-6 (ish) VCRs and all the ways I used to plan, track, and watch my recordings.

I think the piece you are missing is OpenDCT, unless that is what you meant by hdhr software. It acts as a bridge between an HDHR tuner & a Sagetv server since network tuners aren't supported directly.

You can read more about it here ...

https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62774

Remember it is an additional server so you will need to make sure the OpenDCT server is active. Once it is installed in Windows it will have its own gui you can access.

Clarification: Sage natively supports HDHR tuners for ATSC and/or ClearQAM. But when CableCard is used, OpenDCT (or the older SageDCT) is also required.

In all cases, the HDHR Setup app must be run to configure the tuners.

Yes, Sage did recognize it natively, as it's used for ATSC. I don't have cable cards. I was thinking of going in that direction, but now I'm hearing that Comcast doesn't provide or support them anymore - or at least that was strongly suspected. I haven't followed the latest on that.

The problem I had turned out to be simply having checked off a wrong setting during my initial setup - QAM instead of ATSC.
