Channel shows in SageTV but cannot view it
I had a new channel show up in Spectrum today and I can watch it via the normal cable box / TV.
I cannot view it in SageTV. Sage says "No Signal". The channel shows up in SageTV's Program Guide, with programs that match the cable schedule. The channel does not show up in the HDHomeRun Prime setup application listings after I did a rescan. It also does not show up when I browse to the prime device itself and look at the HDHomeRun Lineup. I also restarted windows after the scan. No difference. I have power cycled both the HD HR Prime and the cable card adapter. No difference. There are several channels that have the same behavior. Question: - Any thoughts on what I should do next? TIA, John Misc logs: sagetv_0.txt HTML Code:

The first place I would start is to determine what the CCI flag is set to for those channels. If it is anything other than "Copy Freely" (0x00), you will not be able to access it from SageTV anyway. Your cable box should allow you to view the CCI flag for those channels, although sometimes it's a bit tricky to get to it. You might need to google the diagnostics manual for your specific cable box.

I have Comcast/Xfinity as a cable provider. I have a similar situation where there are channels that are not detectable by a cable card device. If you the cable providers latest greatest box then all channels are available.
I don't have a cable box but I did call Comcast to attempt to fix the issue. After jumping through basic troubleshooting hoops, my call got elevted to the next level. Once the issue of some channels not tunable, (and SilconDust said if they can't see the channel, there is nothing they can do), The Comcast tech siad some channels are being sent differently (a comparison to IPTV signal was used) and are not tunable by cable card devices. Mine was not the first call about this issue. This may not be what is happening for you. The symptoms seem similar but maybe something completely different. I don't disagree with the CCI flag possiblity, if the Prime can't even "see" the channel, the CCI flag isn't going to matter.

Keith,
your comment led me to look at the TA, which has a blinking amber light and the occasional red light. Per several comments about that box (MTR700), that amber light is suppose to be solid, not blinking. I suspect my tuning adapter is the issue. I'll call Spectrum (when I can find a hole in my wife's recording schedule). |

Instructions to see the MTR700 Tuning Adapter using HDHomeRun Prime:
Run the HDHomeRun Setup Select the cable card device (Prime in this case) Select the "Tuning Resolver Menu" Select the "Tuning Resolver Pages" That leads to a web page titled: "MTR-700 Diagnostics" Last edited by Foggy; 07-25-2022 at 08:08 AM. |

I have the exact same TA (there aren't many other choices), the documentation/manual for that device is pretty much nonexistent. So as far as the blinking amber/red light, I'm not sure what the typical behavior is. If you find a link to any documentation, please post in this thread.

Probably some of the best information that I have been able to find regarding what a tuning adapter's purpose in life is: https://tivoidp.tivo.com/tivoCommuni...Impacts-Me-FAQ
