MS Hotfix for .NET Framework

There's a "Hotfix" for .NET Framework available at the Windows Update site. Installed it and immeadiately had difficulties with SageTV, slow response and lockups. Might have more to do with Cayars 17. It's easy enough to uninstall via Control Panel - Add/Remove.

Anybody else having problems ?

That hotfix has been out there awhile. I have it installed on 3 machines and have no issues. Using Cayars on one of the machines.

AFAIK the only part of Cayar's STV that used .net was the dvdburner.

Sounds like a coincience to me. Check your task manager and see what's eating cpu cycles.

Well, this is interesting.

With the update loaded it can take up to 10 seconds for a channel change. Sometimes it won't change channels at all. Cayars doesn't seem to be part of the problem as the same delay happens with the original STV.

Unload the hotfix and all is normal. Task Manager shows Sage is sucking upwards of 90% usage with fix, without fix, 11-13%.

So, I took the easy way and just uninstalled .Net.

That is strange. I wonder if the hotfix is messing with your java install somehow.

What version are you running?

JRE 1.5.0 But, don't you have the same setup ?

It's really no longer a concern, .Net is gone. I guess I should be curious as to why but the path of least resistance is quicker !

Yes, I do.

Strange indeed. Do you have comskip enabled? I wonder if something is breaking with that. Other than that, I'm at a loss.

I've tried it with different STV's. Same no matter what one. I'm currently using Cayars 17 with comskip.

Something to keep in the back of your head if someone else complains.

Hey, I'm off to a birthday steak dinner !!
