STV Import: Dynamic Customisable Main Menu (v6.4 20/Dec/2007 for SageTV 5.0/6.0)

Eureka!!!

This is soo super sweet!!!

I can now control lighting in each room from each MVP client using cheapo x10.

The problem is in interaction between the SageTVService and EventGhost. To get around it you can use the network sender functions in EventGhost.

Formulate the command arguments as:

-n {Host}:{Port} {Password} {Eventname}

If automation server is also SageTV server use.

-n 127.0.0.1:1024 1234 MasterLightsOn

Now in EventGhost configure the "network reciever" plugin to use port 1042 and password 1234. Create a new macro called "MasterLightsOn", trigger it with event "TCP.MasterLightsOn".

Seems to work well thus far! Love it!

I love this dynamic menu plug-in. But now the 6.2.4 beta has a beautiful search page and when I load the Dynamic Menu STVI it reverts back to the old 6.1 search page. Is there a way to use Dynamic Menu and still have the new search?

it is a pasteable menuitemlet... Copy to clipboard, and do rightclick>New>paste in the dynamic menus

Does anybody know if this can be switched off?

Has anybody had any issues with booting up the MVP with this import using the latest beta?
I can't get the MVP to work unless I revert back to an STV without this import...

I am using this import on 3 MVPs. Here's what I do:

1) Stop services and set to disabled. Unplug power from MVPs.
2) Install upgrade
3) Install stvi add-ons using full gui mode, no service
4) Quit SageTV
5) Rename SageTV3.xml to SageTV3-6.2.4-Original.xml
6) Rename SageTV3-X.xml to SageTV3.xml, delete the intermediary ones.
7) Launch SageTV gui again to make sure all is well, configure any default actions for addons, etc. The STV should have defaulted back to SageTV3.xml
8) Shut down SageTV, enable services, start service, and plug back in all MVPs.

if you are willing to do some studio editing, it can be fixed:

find a line starting with:
MenuContainerWidth =
and change it to
MenuContainerWidth = 0.75

Find MainMenuTheme
expand it, and edit the properties of the ItemTheme child to set it's width to 1.0

It looks looks like others have gotten Dynamic Menus to work in 6.2.4. Am interested since so far for me 6.2.4 is not all that bad. I have not probem making the mods in Studio, but and getting a...

I read this on the Dynami Menus Wiki ...

If you get

Failed to load SageMenuReader class
this is most likely because either

1. .JAR files are not in the SageTV/JARs directory,
2. they are not readable to the sage user,
3. or you did not fully shutdown and restart the sage user interface after unpacking...

But was not able to overcome the problem.

Any reason SageTV Client 6.2.4 with Vista and Java 6.1.1 is the problem??

Or am I missing something ....??

This works for me. I run a client with dynamic menus and Vista. Two things to check:

1) Make sure the JARs unzipped to the program files\sagetv\sagetv\jars folder. Depending on what program you use to unzip it might put it in the modified data store where it puts the properties.

2) Make sure your JARs are the right dates. Here's my list, but it is everything.

Among others, both of these files from the zipped file were in the program files\sagetv\sagetv\jars folder;

I downloaded this package for Niel's Wiki ...

v6.1 (20 Feb 2007) for SageTV 6.1

THere were no jars in the VIrtualStore.

Perplexed??

fwiw - based on file size I don't think you are using the latest version. I use 7zip to decompress the files because it maintains the date whereas windows explorer will make it the current time and date.

I forget where I got the latest version, but I can attach here if desired.

Would you mind outputting your directory list of the JARs to here?

I restored my original Sage before Installing this STV so the JARs are gone.

That said, if I open the Zip without extracting the files I extracted show up with this Time/Date and size ...
