The version on the link in the wiki is newer than the one you have.. Odd. Oct 24, 2006 is the date stamp in package I just downloaded.

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...&postcount=253

Also, I don't know if it will matter, but a newer utils version can be had from some other package. The latest is a May 2007 time stamp.

I can upload my copy if interested.

Thanks again B ... Sure, if you don't mind uploading your copy.

I went to the link you gave me above and downloaded it, but the got sasme results.

I thought maybe you were on to somethig since Windows Zip extraction rewrites the time / date stamp. So, downloaded 7zip and re-unzipped the files. The time / date stamps were now correct. Bad news is again same results.

So, let me be sure I am doing this correctly. I know Vista has some Sage files in the VirtualStore, but installing an import is still the following steps... ??
  1. Exit SageTV CLient
  2. Download Import
  3. Unzip Import Folder
  4. Copy Import Folders / Files in to the "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV" Folder
  5. Lunch SageTV CLient
  6. Go to Setup > Detailed Setup > Advaqnced > Import SageTV Application Package
  7. Select the Import
  8. Click Yes

Is this still correct? Nothing has changed to the procedure??

Thanks, T.

Niel ... I know you are working on a new version for this plugin. Is there a reson why my "install" of 6.1 should fail on menu load on Vista and Sage 6.2.4? It appears others got it to load and them tweaked the menu format. I can't get past the instsall.

Shoud I just wait?

Thanks, T.

No reason.
Check the debug logging for any more information on why it failed.
Remember to delete any net/sf/sageplugins/sageutils and net/sf/sageplugins/sagemenureader directories in the Sage directory in both program files and in the virtualstore...

I keep a "BACKUP - Original Folder" under the SageTV Folder. After I get the forst clean install and basic config, I copy all the files in that folder. When the Menu Import failed I deleted all the files and copied over the backup to bring it back to the original. Then I delete the SageTV3 XML files fdro the VirtuaStore to bring it all the way back.

Then I try again ...

It seems to unzip fine, copy fine and allow me to installl the Application Package. After clicking yes at that point, that's when the menu error appears an wants fo r fail back to the original menu ... ??

Got me ...

Thanks, T.

OK ... figured it out by searching "Failed to load SageMenuReader class"

And now I feel stupid!!

This is what happens when you tweak you Sage the way you like it and then a year later you retweak a new release. I must be getting old too ...

So this is what I neglected to do ,,,,

If you get an error ("Failed to load SageMenuReader class...") it's because you don't have a valid menu definition yet, download the latest version of nielm's dynamic menus and extract the menu definition file "default_menu_V6_1.xml" into your SageTV directory, remane it to menu.xml and restart the UI. Now it should successfully display the submenu items, and you can add / remove items.

I should have known this! Thanks everyone for your help ... T.

Two more things ... concerning screen format with Dynamic Menus ...

1. When you create menus that eventually require a scrill bar, the scroll bar overlas with the menu text??

2. The Currently Recording Show at the bottm of the screen overlaps on its own border??

I fixed this one ... Vista apparently requires that I set the menu.xml file security to full for user account even though it had admin equiv.

Run Batch file against video file

Hi. I have imported the STVi to 6.2.4 and all seems well. I would like to set up a menu item that will allow me to run a batch file against a specific recorded video on demand. Sort of like the "Run Comskip" command. I am having trouble figuring out how to place the menu item & what parameters to use. Does anyone know of a location where I can read some examples? or maybe if you already know the answer?

Thanks!

What you need is John's external application STVI. see the following post.

Specific Folder

Hya,

I'm been tweeking an MVP for the kids to use and theres one thing I just wanted to ask. Is there any way to have a Selection on the main menu go straight to a specific import folder instead of listing all other folder on the drive?

I'm not great with Studio but if you tell me there's a way to do it in there, I'll try it out cause I know you're busy working on other stuff.

Thanks in advanced Nielm or anyone else that cares to chime in.

There is this listed functionality in SageMC that sounds like it will do what you want, but I haven't been able to get it to work yet. It uses nielm's dynamic menus functionality to make it work, so the feature may be included in nielm's Dynamic STV. Nielm?

Quote:
Filtered Menus for Video and Music Library

It is now possible to have separate 'views' onto your music and video library, by pre-filtering the existing media files based on the import folder path. Basically, you can create one or more menu items for the 'My Videos' and 'My Music' menus and associate a specific import folder path with it. When you enter the library, only media files matching the import path will be displayed.

This filtering has been implemented with the 'doclet' functionality of the dynamic menus. Here is an example how to set it up:

1) Enter the following xml text into a text editor:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="no"?>
<!DOCTYPE sageMenu PUBLIC "-//NIELM//DTD SAGEMENU XML 1.3//EN" "http://www.sage-community.org/~nielm/nielm_modules/dynamic_menu/sagemenu_1_3.dtd">
<sageMenu version="1.3">
<internalScreenMenuItem
screen="My Music"
title="Classical Music">
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PathFilterExpr", "\\\\mediapc\\music\\Classic")</evalExpression>
<evalExpression>AddStaticContext("PathFilterExcludes", false)</evalExpression>
</internalScreenMenuItem>
</sageMenu>

2) Edit the 'PathFilterExpr' and change it to the import path you want to filter on. Note that this has to match the folder name in the import libraries configuration exactly (case-sensitive!) If 'PathFilterExcludes' is 'false', only media files imported from the path specified will be displayed. If it is 'true', all media files from this path will be *excluded* from the view. Set 'screen' to 'My Music' or 'Video Library Folder View", and set 'title' to the title for the menu item.

3) Copy the whole xml text into the windows clipboard

4) Bring up the dynamic menu options dialog and select 'New...', it should offer you a menu item 'Paste Menu Item from clipboard'.

if anyone else has any ideas, please help. I'm sure I did something stoopid.

Running on Linux OEM Gentoo2006.1

Not sure what the deal is, but I upgraded to 6.2 and menus didn't work, so downgraded to 6.1.9 and they still don't work.

I wiped out my entire /opt/sagetv/server/ directory and started again and it still won't work.

I upgraded java:
SAGESERVER ~ # java -version
java version "1.6.0_02"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_02-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.6.0_02-b05, mixed mode)

still no work.

so, by "no work" I mean that after importing the STVi, Sage says it had an error reading the menu.xml file. I've tried many different ones (including hte default_menu_6.1.xml) and none can load.

any ideas?

(I had to revert back to 6.1.9.1 to get this output)
Code:

Try naming it just menu.xml.

Interesting.. I haven't had time to report this yet either.. But I run the linux version as well and I resolved it by hosting the dtd file in the sage webserver webroot.

Fri 8/17 18:07:04.889 resolving -//NIELM//DTD SAGEMENU XML 1.4//EN -- http://www.sage-community.org/%7Enie...gemenu_1_3.dtd
Fri 8/17 18:07:04.890 An unexpected IO error occured when parsing: /opt/sagetv/server/default_menu_V6_1.xml: java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused

Edit your menu.xml and change the path of the dtd file.

B

PS if you make an edit it puts the old value back causing the issue.

I'm seeing 2 anomolies with 6.2.6 RC 1: When highlighting Upcoming Recordings, The text turns black. The Online Services menu seems hardcoded again...when I back out of it, I get another (Sage) OS menu with a different order of tasks (I put my Weather at the top).

Polypro,

I believe Nielm stated that he will not update his Dynamic Menus untill Sage releases 6.26. We have to wait until he releases an updated version upon the release of Sagetv 6.26.
