Yeah, I forgot about that...disregard my above post. As is, it's 99% perfect anyway

Post 6.2.7 Issues

Is anyone else seeing slowness in custom menus for 6.2.7? Anything linked to a stock screen seems to come up right away. Anything linking to a custom menu takes forever.

I've got a "Watch DVD" sub-menu in "Media Center". In that I have the Play DVD command, and two links to open and close the DVD tray (Wizmo). I don't notice any slowness.

Did I miss something? Is there an official release of Dynamic Menus for 6.2.7?

Nope, poor wording on my part. Also, this is from MVPs. PC Clients were unaffected.

Add-on for Sage v4

Hi,
sorry if this is the wrong forum or if its a silly question, but which
Dynamic customizable main menu add-on should I use if I have:
Sage TV: 4.1.3.67
STV: 3-3.xml (v4.1.3.1)

I tried to find the one for Sage v4 but I only found ones for v3, v5 and v6.
thanks for the help.

Update 9/16:
I tried to instal v6.1 and nothing seemed to happen.
I tried to install v5.2 and I get an error when Sage starts up saying that it can't load
"SageMenuReader" class. Could this be due to the class file being compiled on an older
version of the JDK? I'm running Java v1.5.0_06.
Help! I feel like I'm about to mess up my entire setup :-)

-Doug

From the version history I guess 5.2 or 5.3. Later versions state that they are for 5.0 or 6.0 only
I cannot remember and no longer have any way to test...

No.
Check that it unpacked correctly, and that the JAR files are in the correct directory and are readable.
Check that you restarted Sage (or the service for MVPs/Placeshifters/Unix clients)
As a last resort, enable debug logging (see faq) and post the log.

I'm using 5.2.
Here's the log files:
http://www.soaphub.org/sage/sagetv_1.txt
http://www.soaphub.org/sage/sagetv_0.txt
http://www.soaphub.org/sage/tv.sage.mod.0.log

Not sure which ones you needed so I just grabbed all the ones that were modified.

Yes everything is unpacked correctly and readable by the system. I've restarted both the UI and the service.

Anything else you can think of that I should try?
thanks

See what happens if you have a menu.xml file in the directory. You may need to rename one of your default menu files to that.

Modifying existing commands

I see how to use this plug-in to add new menus/sub-menus and
how to add new menu items to invoke external commands but
I'm a bit lost as to whether or not I can use it to modify an existing
command. For example, if I navigate down to the imported videos
and choose a file to play, can I use this plug-in to customize which
external command (or even internal command) is used to play the
media file? At that menu when I press the options button I get the
standard Sage options/menu, not this plug-in's customizable one.
thanks

Just curious

nielm
So I'm wondering, since the production version of 2.8 is released, might we see some new functions or features in Dynamic mneus or will it be just updated to work with the latest. Either one would be great but I was just wondering.....

Is anyone having issues with the update while connecting via place shifter over an internet or authenticated connection? The screen is black after authentication.

Also, I am getting very poor screen transition speeds when using this on a MVP or a place shifting client to screens which are not standard SageTV commands.

Lastly, the default xml files seem to have the sage-community site and the menuitemlets have the sourceforge listing. Is there a JAR update that could be missing from the package?

I have tried this with Mac and Windows Vista placeshifting connections.

Niel, is there a debugging mode I can enable to provide useful data to you?

Thanks,

B

As soon as I add this in, I no longer have the "Videos" option under Media Center (which seems to have changed from v6.1). After adding the updated STVi, it changes the "Videos" option back to "Imported Videos" which doesn't work properly.

Is it picking up the right "menu.xml"? If you left the 6.2 version named as 6.2_menu.xml and still had the 6.1 version as menu.xml, it might be using that. I delete everything and then re-named the 6.2 version menu.xml.

Thank you! This is the first upgrade since I just recently switched to Sage and of course these are the little things that I haven't quite figured out yet.
