If you mean literally that you re-imported the STVi again into your current configuration, I don't think that will work.
I just imported Dynamic Menus STVi last night, so I'm hardly qualified to answer anything :-) but I do recall the instructions state it cannot be re-imported. Just FYI in case you truly meant that. --pseudonym |

I loaded the Sage3.xml file again, and then the dynmenu stvi. I still can not save the menu file. Everything else in dynmenu seems to work, like adding menu entries for example.

Dynamic Menu Troubleshooting
This morning I decided to try dynamic menus. The initial install went smoothly-however, when I enter Sage I am encountering a problem.
When I right click on the main menu to see the menu edit options there is no menu background. As far as I can tell the menu buttons are working (I can save load and edit menus). After searching extensively for a solution in the thread, I have yet to find an answer. I have attached a pair of screen shots to hopefully give you an idea. Thank you for the assistance, bama |

I'm no expert but have a question: Under
Setup-> Detailed Setup-> Advanced -> Select the User Interface Theme What do you have selected there? Mine is still Standard SDTV and works fine with dynamic menus. If yours isn't, try changing it to Standard SDTV for troubleshooting purposes and see if that fixes the problem? If so you can now narrow it down further... Hope that helps, regards, --pseudonym Last edited by pseudonym; 04-19-2008 at 04:25 PM. |

If this is on the server make sure you shut down SageTV completely before extracting the files. And you may want to reboot the server to be on the safe side. If it is on the client quit Sage complete,. don't just sleep it to the try.

pseudonym: I am not sure what you mean by Select the User Interface Theme- I do not have that option under Setup>Detailed Setup>Advanced
I took a screen shot of my menu there. gplasky: This is the server- I redid the install: rolled back to the original STV3.xml, exited SageTV, ensured the process was not still running (it was not), extracted files, restarted SageTV, reimported the dynamic menus. Unfortunately, I am still getting the same issue. Thanks for yall's help any other ideas? bama |

Told you I am not an expert :-) I am running SageTV Media Center 6.3.10 as a regular windows program with sleep to systray. Perhaps you are running a different version? Or perhaps this is a difference for server? What flavor and version of SageTV are you running? What OS?
Oh, wait, I have the 'hidden secret extras' enabled. Perhaps the user interface selection is an option only when that is enabled? See this thread for info on that feature: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...=hidden+secret Hope this helps, regards, --pseudonym |

Have you rebooted the entire machine yet? I know but it's bit me before so now I just do it, dunno why many times it's not required.
The IIRC 3rd screen shot looks perfect. The first screen shot is an excellent example of what you are tring to fix, that menu on the right should have a blue background even though you have video background enabled. |

Upcoming Recordings - No Show??
I have just rebuilt my Media Center. Dynamic Menus was my first import.
The Basics: Windows Vista Ulrimate w/SP1 SageTV 6.3.10,166 Java 1.6.0_05 Dymamic Menus 6.4 I am using "Video Disk Space" and "Upcoming Recordings". I set the look ahead to 168 hours (7 days) and for a short time my Upcomings Recordings showed up for my Favorites. Then it quit showing them even though I look at the Favorite's Additional Airings and see shows in the next few days?? If I set a show to record in an hour or two manually, it shows up? Any ideas?? |

Mine is set at 259200000, which ends up being 72 hours. 259200000 / 1000 / 60 / 60 = 72 Don't ask me where the 1000 comes from. But if you want 7 days, it would be: 7*24*60*60*1000=604800000 Or, Days * 86400000

Actually, Dynamic Menus have an Option called "Disk Space Bar Ooptions". In there is says "Number of hours to lookahead for recording schedule". I figure 7 days is 24x7 ... 168. Am I missing something?

Has anyone tried this with the new 6.4.2 beta?
Do we need a new menu template?

Dynamic Main Menu import = no new file browser in 6.4.2
I've just noticed after importing the Dynamic menus, the newfangled file browser in 6.4.2 reverts to the "old fashioned" file browser of 6.3.10 :-( I like the new file browser AND the Upcoming Recordings bar that comes with the Dynamic menus but now I can't have both at the same time!? Anyone else notice this? Have any ideas how to get both working together?

6.4.3 beta issues??
I'm seeing a new lag (spinning arrow of doom) of about 10sec when using the DynamicMenu STVi with the new beta 6.4.3 (same with 6.4.2). I'm fairly confident it's something involved with this import because I can't reproduce it with the default stv - although I realize it could be any number of HW/SW combinations specific to my setup. So, I'd like to know if anyone else has experience the same problem.
I can reproduce 2 problems consistently. First, is reproduced by opening sagetv with the DynMenu stvi installed AND "Upcoming Recordings" enabled on the main menu. Navigate to recordings and play file, stop, back to menu. If I repeat this procedure (Main->Recordings->Play->Stop->Back) about 3-4 times the spinning arrow appears for about a 10sec lag while going back to the main menu. If I disable "Upcoming Recordings" option from the main menu the problem (lag) disappears. The second 'lag' occurs after I've disabled "UpRec" option from the main menu and repeat the above procedure. This time it occurs when transitioning from the main menu to the recording menu and is not accompanied by the spinning wheel. (this one is intermittent - occurs about every 3-4 repeated attempts). I've attached a couple log files (1 & 2 respectively for the above problems). The 1st one you can clearly see a hang detected during the spinning wheel issue which occurs directly after looking for some images (10:43 & 10:44). The second file (2nd problem) is not as clearly defined as the first. Can anyone reproduce or see the same 'lag'? thanks, wado |

Just a quick question -- are you using the SageTV MPEG Audio Decoder?
This is the install default audio decoder. It has known problems with hangs in 6.3.10 (same "local UI hang" messages as in your log). If you are using it, change to AC3Filter or another and try to recreate the hangs again? If you're not using it, disregard this post... :-) --pseudonym |

Thanks for the suggestion but I already tried the AC3 filter change and various other tweaks found in the forum. I'm really more interested in determining if anyone else has the same experience with 6.4.3 & DynMenu import (very reproducible).
