A few questions..

Are you running on a PC or an MVP?

Is it really none of the menu items (you have tried them all?)

Is it with mouse clicking or keyboard, or with a remote (or all 3). If keyboard/remote do you hit Select/Enter, or Right to select?
On a PC.

Yes I have tried all the menu items. The only thing that repsonds is the minimize icon where I am able to then shutdown Sage. Aftrwards I edit my sage properties to reload the previous default stv.

Nether right mouse clicking or keyboard entering work. I can select the menus either by the mouse or keyboard just no entry response.

My initial thinking was this was something to do with the menu fading. I might have done something way back in Studio to make menu fading more consistent in your previous release of the Dynamic Menu import. I recall you or someone had suggested this to another post.

I am starting to think the same... You can disable it in the dynamic menus with the property:
nielm/main_menu/animate_transitions=false
but this should only affect fade transitions to submenus...

As you know studio, can you open it, enable log on errors, and see if there are any error popups when you try to select a menu item?

Also if you have anything vaguely error related in a log file, that might be interesting...

BTW, can you access the main menu options popup with Options/rightclick?
If right-clicking on the menu items does not work, can you try right-clicking on the top of the title bar...

This may help...

I was having problems trying to upgrade to this latest version until I realized that I had a "net/sf/sageplugins/sagemenu" directory off my root "SageTV" folder. Once I deleted it and restarted, everything worked fine. Not sure how it got there, or if very early release of DCMM contained this directory instead of packaging as a JAR in the JARs directory.

Anyhow, thought I'd share my story!

Nope, I'm afraid that doesn't do it either. While 'guide' has come up successfully, it comes up as "null Guide". I don't know if it has anything to do w/ my favorite channel import, but once again, fails w/ DynMenu imported, but works clean and plays nicely with the entire list of imports as posted earlier.

Never did see an answer to 'turn on log' for debugging purposes, but always available to do more tests. Short term, have had to uninstall DynMenu in order to naviage.

Thanks Nielm! Let me know the plan

I actually don't know Studio other than that one editing session. One the obvious benefits for me of your import was the dynamic menu creation so I didn't have to use Studio.

I am not sure then about accessing the log file. Although tv.sage.mod file as quite a few dubious entries.

I can access the main menu options pop-up with a right click.

Neil,

Just wanted to give you a big thank you for the latest release. It is awesome! The PIN support has absolutely made my day. I no longer have to worry about the family running any of the administrative items I created that could mess things up for me.

John

I was having some other stability issues, so I just completely uninstalled SageTV, deleted the directory, re-installed, and then imported the latest Plugins. It took a few hours to get everything the way I wanted it, but everything isnow working well, including the Dynamic Customizable Main Menu plugin.

toongal: quick fix for dynamic menu + fave channels problem...

open studio. expand Dynamic Main Menu by nielm

you should see 2 'AfterMenuLoad' hooks (duh!)

Expand the first one, select + drag+drop the "set focus last selected" child onto the second 'AfterMenuLoad' hook, then delete the first 'AfterMenuLoad' hook...

I will fix this in the next release, when I figure out whats going on with the non-selectable problem...

Neilm:

I will probably wind up installing the new Sage 6 beta in a couple of weeks. I will try it then with either an upgraded or completly new install. Just want to wait until I come back from Europe as I have to placeshift the Baseball World Series while I am away...

The Custom1-5 buttons would have a problem in my Favorite Channel Lists plugin if the user changes the options to use one of them to cycle the FCL lists as well. The MenuShortcutBarsv0_4_0.stvi plugin uses Custom1-5 as well but it knows about FCL and changes them accordingly. I added a stealth mode in the Menu Shortcut Bars for the custom buttons that appears to still work and should work with Dynamic menus and any other plugin. I can add code to my FCL plugin however to remove the Custom1-5 listeners if dynamic menus are present if that will help?

Exclamation 404 not found

I am encountering a 404 Not Found error when I try to download any of the Dynamic Menu stuff from the sage-community.org site. I can navigate to http://www.sage-community.org/~nielm/nielm_modules/ and get a directory listing, however the dynamic_menus folder does not appear. Have these been removed from the server? I am using the Sage 6.0 beta and want to make sure I get the newest version of Dynamic Menus. Is there an alternate download location? Thanks to all.

Should be back now -- I encountered a 'problem between keyboard and chair' when cleaning up some temp files, and cleaned up a few non-temp files!

I am a little confused about something.

Lets say I had a fresh install of SageTV 6.0.11 beta and imported this stvi and set up all menus and such as I wish.

Now 6.0.12 beta is out so I intall it overtop of 6.0.11.

What are the correct steps to take inorder to use this stvi again? Importing the old file seems to work, but will it overwrite the new changes to the stv (assuming it was updated)? Or should you go through the whole installation again? Meaning downloading, unzipping, importing, and customizing menus from scratch as if it was a new installation.

Thanks

Re-import

No, that is the point of an import: it patches the new sagetv3 STV keeping all the changes.

Thats only necessary when I make a new release (which I will have to do soon!).

In any case, the point of this import is to separate your menu customizations from the base STV, so that STV updates to not affect menu customisations.

Having said that, sometimes STV changes requre minor menu changes, but I will describe that when it becomes necessary.

new version 5.3

v5.3 17 Oct 2006
  • Added parental controls to Google Video in v6 (see detailed setup/customise): old Google Video link no longer works, add new menu item "Google Video SHORTCUT", or paste following MenuItemLet
    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE sageMenu PUBLIC "-//NIELM//DTD SAGEMENU XML 1.3//EN" "http://www.sage-community.org/~nielm/nielm_modules/dynamic_menu/sagemenu_1_3.dtd">
    <sageMenu version="1.3">
        <internalScreenMenuItem screen="Google Video SHORTCUT" title="Google Video"/>
    </sageMenu>
  • fixed shortcut keys problem (Guide, Recordings etc not working)
  • fixed problem with BobPhoenix's fave channel lists
  • updated default_menu_V6_0.xml to include new Google Video Shortcut

There was also a new feature in 5.1 I forgot to tell you about... If you want to program some macros into remote control software (eg go directly to a certain menu screen or whatever), pressing number 'n' highlights the 'nth' menu item...

neil,

The wiki is really messed up. It says the database is locked and won't do anything.
