Quicktime Movies

I've noticed Quicktime is still not officially supported yet. I've noticed a couple of threads with long-winded instructions as to how to get .mov files to play. But what properties setting do I need to change to get the movies to show up in the database to begin with?
Thanks

It would be very nice if Sage worked with Quicktime alternative... It seems like it should be easy enough??

Code:
seeker/video_library_import_filename_extensions
Start there!
It's the list of extensions that your Video Library will use when populating it's list. Once set, your MOVs will appear in your "Imported Video" list. Covering all the bases, be sure that you've designated a folder for video imports in the Detailed Setup>General area as well.

Presuming that Quicktime Alternative can drive the Sage media player, all you should have to do is drop the .MOV extension into the above .properties value, have QTA installed, and give it a whirl. Hopefully that will do the trick nice and easy.

Sage may throw a video error at you, in which case you may have to employ an external video player for "non-native" types such as quicktime - You'd then be in the market for Cayars STV (for Sage v2 family) or my edited STV (for Sage v4 family).

Good luck, and report your findings!

So I got the files to appear in the video file list by adding the extension. I downloaded Quicktime Alternative, and tested a Quicktime .MOV file by playing it in Windows Media Player - worked fine. Then tried playing several files in Sage, and as you said, it threw a video playback error and wouldn't play them. How annoying...

Since I am firmly staying/believing in mlbdudes sagemc16x9, I guess I will have to wait for the STVi. Can this be done by following http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthread.php?t=14013 ?

One more thing, do i assume correct, that once you play the file, my remote will stop working since I do not use Girder? (I use the IRman) So as soon as another program opens I lose control of the computer until I get my bum out of the seat and grab the remote keyboard...

Thanks

Never fear, SageMCE is here!

I would wager that like NeroDigtal MP4 AVC encodes, QuickTime uses some tricky video graphs that Sage cannot handle. If that is the case, you HAVE to use an external player. Luckily, SageMCE can do that too!

Check it's thread/documentation, but you should also be able to use WMP or any other external video player in the same way that my STV (and cayars) does.

Now that you've got WMP working with Quicktime, it's a short hop over to trying out an external.

Give it a shot!

You were right! Now that SageMC16x9 has external player support it was a snap to configure it to open zoomplayer and play the files with the parameter:

"C:\Program Files\Zoom Player\zplayer.exe" /F /Q /PLAY /CLOSE %1

to open in full screen, and then close automatically. mlbdude changed his .stv so that you can configure it so that only a certain file extension gets opened as an external video file. This is great since I only wanted the .mov files opened this way.
Thanks for your help, and big thanks to mlbdude for changing his SageMC16x9 within 30 minutes after my request!!!!!
