SageTV Linux ISO Updates - V4.1.6 - 1/27/06
There's a new ISO that has been posted. Go to the same page you downloaded your original ISO from. There's also an xdelta patch so you can just download a patch to convert the old ISO to the new one.
The first ISO didn't have a version number on it. You can download xdelta for Windows from http://download.sage.tv/xdelta.exe For other platforms, you can download xdelta from: http://sourceforge.net/project/showf...?group_id=6966 Updates for V4.1.5 include: 1. PVR-350 firmware is now included 2. Media player updates to support all file types listed on website 3. Experimental firewire support has been added 4. Memory usage fix for MVPs 5. Also includes all core changes from the V4.1.5 windows version Updates for V4.1.6 include: 1. Fix for MVP not working correctly when doing a mode 0 install 2. Also includes all core changes from the V4.1.6 windows version

Thanks for adding SATA support.
The UI does draw much better. I don´t get the gradient changes in transparent objects any more. Lauren Last edited by laurenglenn; 01-26-2006 at 06:47 PM. |

When will the "Check for SageTV Updates" option in detailed setup be available to use for updates?

I need to just update the system as well, can't just blow away all of my recordings/movies/music for a small update....

[EDIT] I got the xdelta patch file at the site where I downloaded the ISO from but it'll just patch the ISO, not my system. Last edited by AboveUnrefined; 01-27-2006 at 04:56 PM. |

The SATA insertion in the kernel is worthy of an upgrade, but you don't need to reformat to get it working. Besides, I reformatted my drive and just moved all the directories to the new drive. Everything worked as before without reinstalling. Lauren |

Also, I just wanted to add that this update seems to be running my MVP very well for the past 5 hours. Before I had to shut it down after about 1.5 hours because the UI would stop drawing on my MVP, but now everything's fine so far.
Pretty soon, I won't need Windows any more... Lauren |

The problem with upgrade that way laurenglenn is you losse root login will no longer work after that.

How about this then..... Move the Opt directory to another partition (i.e. hda3 or another drive). Reformat hda1 using mke2fs -j /dev/hda1 and then run ./install.sh /dev/hda1 and ./defboot.sh /dev/hda1
This way, there is no root login lost and all your Sage data is saved. If you have KDE installed prior to this, move all the folders to another partition before formatting. Run the install CD (but don't run defpartition or defformat). When it reboots, move the folders back to the /dev/hda1 partition. Lauren |

Not a bad idea but a reg upgrade install would be better but it depend on the user on there did there install.
I hope this work base on part of what you said but a tab diff for us run of mill windows user may just want get app "WinSCP3" and login to Linux box and just like Windows ver SageTV make back copy from /opt/sagetv/usr/ Sage.properties, autobackup, Wiz.bak and Wiz.bin and if have MVP the make copy of files in /opt/sagetv/SageTV.4.1.?.Dev/clients/ then Reformat hda1 using mke2fs -j /dev/hda1 then run /mnt/cdrom/install.sh /dev/hda1 and run /mnt/cdrom/defboot.sh /dev/hda1 after ever thing up and runing. Kill SageTV by ctrl+c Don't for get that host name change evertime you install SageTV Linux so you have change that in WinSCP3 login to Linux box and recopy thoses and reboot SageTV Linux. You should edit /etc/conf.d/hostname instead. |
