1) I have been upgrading by installing one update on top of the other, but have had problems in the past that were fixed by a complete uninstall, delete of extraneous files, reinstall. I suppose I can try that, but before going through the time of doing so, has anybody else experienced this sort of behavior?
2) I just upgraded Java at the same time from 1.5.0_04 to 1.5.0_06. That of any concern?

One other question...anybody else with two or more MVPs...
Have you ever started watching a show on one MVP, stopped it. Went to a room with another MVP to pick up where you left off and the entire show is marked as watched ... you lost your place?
I see this ... for me it is due to massive spikes in cpu utilization on my server. This only started for me with this version...but I had been using .11 before this and as you had no problems. My CPU utilization will go from 3-4% to 100% every 8-10 min..and remain there for about 3-5 seconds. During the spike, my MVPs will freeze, then resume playing as the utilization resumes normally. I have bugged it with sage..but please bug this so that they know it is more than one person.

The short duration spikes come during GC...but the long pronouned spike happens after I stop a show...and can continue into watching another show. I press stop and I get a Scheduler.updateSchedule() with tons of schedule stuff after it as soon as I press stop.

Placeshifter Fullscreen Woes

Anyone else seen weird behaviour when sending Placeshifter full-screen? Once placeshifter starts, when just on a menu, if I toggle it to full screen it hangs and gobbles all CPU...

Sounds like you're using an older version of the Placeshifter client.

Looks like you're right.
I would have sworn I'd installed 14, but looks like I hadn't, must be confusing different clients. Sorry!

Narflex. How about posting a link to the next Beta in the previous Beta thread? I know it's an extra task, but when a new version comes out, sometimes it takes me a few days to find out, where if I can subscribe to the beta thread, I'd know instantly. I've tried subscribing to the Beta forum, but that's sometimes a lot to sift through.

That seems like an excellent idea but for me it says 'sorry the thread is closed'.

peace . . .

When you are in that thread and from the Thread Tools menu select "Subscribe to this thread" you are getting that closed message?

yes exactly that. In the thread from the thread tools menu.

This is the exact link that calls up the message.

Yep, same here. You'd have to catch Opus when he is updating the thread, and subscribe when it's open...

You guys might want to look into this one.
If you installed a newer client on the same system that had an older server, this is expected behavior. Any time you install a newer version, it first uninstalls any older versions on the system.

It ain't ever open. I just reply to the closed thread.

I want that thread to be an easy way to reference any of the betas (I like the easy way to check the release notes, among other things), so I don't want it to get clogged with conversations. I'll have to look into making it subscribable... or else just open it again but clear out any replies.

Well, I upgraded to 4.1.14 yesterday and just tried using my MVP's. Both are not working now, just hang and "Connecting to server". They both worked fine running 4.1.13.

Did you unplug/replug the MVPs after installing the new version?

Is your firewall noticing that the SageTV program is a different exe & access has to be permitted again?

Yes, unplugged many times, for 30 minutes one of the times.

No firewall running on the server, as it is behind my main one. The MVP's dont go through a firewall to get to the server as they are on a switch with just the server.

Both a server install and a client install will go to Program Files\SageTV. Plus it will read a previous install and pick up that directory. You need to manually change the directory name to something like Program Files\Sage Client during your install.

Oh well, lesson learned. Though, in the future a little warning indicating that an older version of a different program is being uninstalled might be in order because...
a) Having SageClient be able to uninstall SageTV is very unintuitive and unexpected behaviour.
b) If I didn't have a Ghost Image from last week i'd be in a very bad mood today

It doesn't uninstall your data files, just what the installer installed in the first place. Simply install SageTV (server) again in the same location where it was before.

I just put the 4.1.14 RC in place and it's working great so far. The placeshifting and the newer MediaMVP clients are great! I have one question, though, about the "Statics Summary" at the top of the placeshifting client. Is it supposed to read out any speed when on a LAN? I just get 0 Kbps.
