New ATI board-SageTV will support?

Looks like ATI is coming out with a board with hardware MPEG-2 support on the board. Looks like this will fit very nicely with SageTV. Optional FM radio for the board too.

ATI E-Home Wonder

Designed to take advantage of WXP Media Center 2004, I think we need to take advantage of it too.

Can you get this somewhere? Unless you can get it, what's the point of supporting it? Do you know what the price is/will be?

It should work correctly with the current version of Sage. Almost any card with the Conexant iVac16 chip on it should work fine (that's what it looks like it has).

Yes it is Conexant CX23416 (iTVC16) but the chip label is CX23416 - 12A so it must be a newer rev chip then PVR 250 now I'm shock at ATI I guest they couldn't make there own MPEG encoder chip.
The only other diff is A/V input which is 7Pin and FM support and a small foot print which is nice it even look smaller then the Yuan MPG600 but most like this going be OEM thing only but then again it be very interesting to see if ATI dose Retail.
I wonder what Video Digitizer and Audio Processor it has.

E-Home Wonder appears to be OEM only.

There is little info on the ATI site, but it talks about computer mfrs. being able to offer an ATI solution for XP MCE. My guess it is only an OEM product.

Well i would wait to see if it shows up on newegg which seems to sell several other oem xp mce cards that supposably are only avialible by buying a mce machine.

One of the things i like about newegg.

Darn, you beat me to it, I was hoping to catch my mistake first. I kind of got caught by the completely vague specification page. Oh well, saves me a little money I guess.

I currently am using a AverStudio card and am unhappy with performance with SS BTW and would like to try Sage b4 making decision on what SW to buy...

Someone found a dealer in Toronto who is selling these ATI cards for 92.00 CDN... before driving over an hour to pick one up Monday I was wondering if they would work with Sage??.. they are MCE certified as per Microsoft and have the hardware encoder..... from what I hear we may see many of these OEM cards in the near future as ATI may be unloading them.......

What do you think?? Do you think they have a good chance of working with Sage??

Longterm, almost certainly. Right NOW, maybe/maybe not.

It depends on the design. There are a set of MCE cards that currently do NOT work on Sage TV (the AverMedia M150 is one of them).

It should be easy for Jeff to add support for them, but they may not work out of the box today.

Just to be fair, that new design class of card (like the Aver M150) don'twork with SS either...

If it has the encoder chip SHS mentions, it should work with sagetv. If you are headed to buy one, would you be willing to pick up an extra one for me? Or buy one for me and I'll test it for you for sagetv? 92$ Canadian is quite a deal for a hardware mpeg2 encoder.

Well.. I picked up the card today and it has the Conexant CX23416-12A (iTVC16) ...sorry I did not see your post earlier about picking up an extra card... anyway the guy jacked the price already to 109.00 CDN so you may not have wanted it. He said he is getting loads of inquiries on them from all over North America
http://www.computerlinksystems.com/index.php

and another shop in T.O. has it for 102.00 Cdn
http://razorcomputers.net/database3.asp#8

It does not want to work with Snapstream... does not see the video in...

I tried it with Sage and it works perfectly...CPU less than 20%..happy days...

I am going to load MEC2004 and see how I like it and then choose between SageTv and MCE, hopefully by the time I decide SageV2 will be released....

Good to know...

Like I said some of the new style MCE cards do NOT work with either program (even though they have Conexant iTVC16 chips also).

So it is GREAT to hear that this one does work with Sage TV!!!

Questions:

1. Is it the 15 or 16 generation Conexant chip?

2. There seems to be 2 RF connectors on it. Is there 2 tuners?

3. Did they have more in stock?

Thanks.

glad to hear it works, very sad to see the price jump. Now they're 109$ canadian, may as well look for a used hauppauge that comes with a remote and support.

Not sure if it is a 15 or 16 chip.. How do I tell??

They do have more but I would call them 1st as they are selling fast..

One of the RF connectors is for FM radio...

One thing I found and I am not sure if it is the installation or the card causing this (this is my 1st install of Sage)

When you go to the Multimedia tab there is nothing in the recording qualities pulldown.. all greyed out..nothing to select

This means I cannot change the quality.... I did a search on this forum and tried editing the properties file as others have but I still have no recording qualities after saving the .txt file and restarting Sage?? Come to think of it I did not see anything in my properties file for any settings...

Is it the card or something that I can fix??

What would be really nice is if one of these TV/FM tuner combination cards would allow you to use both TV and FM at the same time, so you could listen to the radio w/o interfering with TV recording going on in the background.
