DVP API support
I've just figured out that my almost new ATI TV Wonder Elite is completely and probably permanently unsupported under Linux, and so I'm shopping for a new TV capture card.
I've been checking out the pcHDTV 5500, a card manufactured specificly for Linux use and released with open source drivers. This card is not on Sage's supported list but I'm wondering if it might work anyway. According to the pcHDTV FAQ, the card's driver supports "Digital Video Broadcast" (DVB), which it says is the standard API for Linux capture cards http://www.pchdtv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=826 Does anyone know if Sage uses this API to communicate with capture card drivers? If so, this card might work. |

Any chance Sagetv will support other tuner cards for Linux?

I see this thread hasn't been updated for some time but I have the same/similar question. Does the SageTV Linux version only use the IVTV driver and therefore only IVTV cards? I see they (SageTV) lists the HDTV Wonder as supported but when I tried it did not work and I don't see anywhere in the forums instructions on how to make this work.
I believe you have to compile the kernel w/ support for DVB and the default Gentoo install does not seem to have this included. Help or instructions would be appreciated. |

The card works. People are using it with Sage for QAM.
