Audio Renderer and Audio Decoder

I have the "platinum" nVidia decoders because all I use for my HTPC is my PC with it's sound card - no SPDIF passthrough to a "real" receiver etc.

So, I know we're supposed to set our video decoder to "default" so it will use the nVidia decoder. So then what do I set my:

Audio Render:
1.) Default
2.) SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [B800]
3.) Default DirectSound Device
4.) Default WaveOut Device
5.) Direct Sound: SB Audigy 2 ZS Audio [B800]

Audio Decoder:
1.) Default
2.) AC3Filter
3.) MPEG Audio Decoder
4.) NVIDIA Audio Decoder

Any ideas? Under the Audio Render section, how are 2, 3, 4, 5 different???

Thanks

AWS

In your case 2 or 5 are the best bet for audio renderer. The other choices may point to the mobo sound card if enabled.

5 would be the best choice being the Directsound interface.

For decoder select Nvidia Decoder.

Since nVIDIA only decodes AC3 for MCE & WMP...wouldn't AC3 Filter be the best choice for audio decoding in Sage?

Thanks for your help.

When I play a backed up DVD (My Videos) does Sage use the single "DVD" or the seperate "Audio" & "Video" sections of it's configuration settings?

Why does Sage seperate the two - DVD and TV settings?

My backed up DVDs are still in the "AUDIO_TS" and "VIDEO_TS" structure - not just an *.AVI or whatever single file.

Sage uses different internal players for DVD's and TV content and allows you to choose decoders individually for them. Your ripped DVD's will still be played using the DVD player, so the DVD decoder settings will apply.
