ExeTuner works..ExeMultiTuner does not...help

ExeMultiTunerplugin has gotten the best of me. I can't seem to get it to work at all. Can someone help? I have read countless posts, all with seemingly different instructions.

here is my setup:

3 Motorola Dtc 6200's (connected via firewire)
1 Hauppage 500 (dual header)
1 hauppage 150 MCE

Even if I delete all sources from sage and only try to use my original 150mce with the ExeMultiTunerplugin, it does not communicate with the 6200

I am using timmoores firewire drivers for the STB's and all 3 STB's are recognized and working properly. I can change all three stbs from the cmd prompt.

I know it's a registry/sage.properties issue, but I don't know what to put in there.

Can someone, using a similar setup, provide screenshots or information from their sage.properties file and they registry keys?

Thanks,
James

I set this up last month, so I'll try to give explaining it a shot.

First, open a command window and go to the directory where you installed the firewire drivers. Execute "channel.exe /v" without quotes and write down which numbers are assigned to the panels for each of your STB's. While you are here, Try Changing channels on each of the STB's via the command line to determine which panel number goes with each physical box. Do this by executing "channel.exe [panel #] [channel #]" (i.e. channel.exe 2 85). Once you know it all works, you can now go on to set up the exemultituner plugin.

Now follow these steps:

1. Copy exemultituner into ...\Program files\SageTV\Common\
2. Add the registry value:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\Common\EXEMultiTunerPlugin]
"command"="c:\getHD\channelw.exe %DEVICE% %CHANNEL%"

(Note: Replace "c:\getHD\" with your path to the channelw.exe file in your STB firewire driver directory)

3. Reboot for the new registry value to be recognized.

4. Set up the encoders in sage and tell them to use exemultituner for channel tuning.

5. Shut down sage completely and open sage.properties. Change the encoder 'device_name' values for the newly set up encoders to correspond to the device numbers for the firewire panels.

The trickiest part in the whole thing is keeping track of what STB goes with what tuner physically and in sage. I started with all inputs disconnected. Then I connected the first one and got it set up completely. After this I repeated the process with each additional encoder. It was also very helpful that SageMC tells you what tuner is in use for each recording (I don't know if the default STV does this or not). Hopefully this will get you going. Good luck!

Aloha,
Mike

I feel like a retard. I still cannot get it working through Sage.

It works flawlessly through the command prompt. "channel 6 110" changes my stb to channel 110. I can do this with all 3 stb's.

It has got to be a registry or sage.poperties file. There are numerous device_name entries in the file, do you change all that pertain to that tuner?

Can I see your sage.properties file?

James
