What version of Java are you running? I think the included df_sageutils.jar only works with Java 1.6. If you're using an older Java you could either upgrade to 1.6 or use the df_sageutils.jar from here.

Hi, great import, working a treat at the moment...

One request though: would it be possible to add AutoCompress options to manual recordings? I forget to compress them after the recording, but after pressing record it would be handy to go into Record Options and set it up to autocompress. This would avoid me realising on Sunday night just before bed that half the programs I want to take away with me Monday are not compressed. D'oh!

Thanks.

Just install but this looks like what I have been looking for. 1 question will compress what is already in the directory or has been recorded?

New version available for download

(1.4.4)
- Reworked logic for the automatic monitoring thread to ensure the thread is killed when switching STVs and if a client disconnects ungracefully. Also removed the requirement to restart after importing or enabling/disabling. Monitoring is no longer global and can be enabled/disabled on a per client basis.
- Reduced the amount of logging done by default with an option to enable full debug logging.

I just installed this and it looks great - one question though. Does Compress work with H.264 files? I have told it to Autocompress my "Wiggles" shows and it looks like it is trying to compress both mpeg files and ts files that are H.264. I don't think compress works with H.264 files.

Sorry but this is a dumb question - What is the difference between Source and InPlace? Does InPlace delete the original mpeg file?

Yes it will try and compress H.264. Does it not work? If it doesn't I can make a change to stop it doing that.

Source = compress file to same location as original, doesn't delete original.
InPlace = compress file to same location as original, does delete original.

Thanks for the replies John. I don't think compress does work with H.264 files. In my setup I initially had only an HD-PVR tuner set up. I added a PVR-150 (which records to MPEG-2) so I turned on Autocompress. It then tried to compress past files that were recorded by the HD-PVR format which wasn't working.

I have now had verification that compress does not work with H.264 files. Is there any way you can adapt the add-in so that it doesn't try? Is there any way that I can stop it from trying to do this in the mean time?

This is probably somewhere in the thread but should the .autoCompress files still be hanging around or should they be automatically deleted? If they are still around does this stop the add-in from trying to autocompress again?

- Set default to not compress h.264 recordings (Can be enabled under More Options in Setup)

Thanks John - you are faster than Dougie Howlett!

How do I install this version - do I have to unistall the previous version, and if so how?

Nowhere near his work-rate though. Aren't you on the wrong continent to know about rugby?

If you are using 6.4 and have configured the plugin manager, then just replace the stvi file with the new one. The next time you restart the SageTV GUI, or exit from the plugin manager it will do a rebuild.

Otherwise, just start from the base STV (SageTV3.xml) and reload this and any other imports.

i'll expand on this. i have been unable to get auto compress to run on a mac server - tried 3 different versions of auto compress, tried java 1.4 and 1.6, and tried the older version of the jar posted above. not sure what the issue is, but when i try to load it, it just doesnt come up - no auto compress menu, etc.

i had it running for quite a while back when i was running a windows based sage server, but have been unable to get it successfully loaded into the mac version of the server.

any thoughts? any successful mac users?

You could turn on debug logging and see what gets logged when you do the import of the STVi as it sounds like the import isn't working

Also, from other posts it looks like the jar files should be located in /Applications/SageTV/Contents/Resources/Java/Jars

There are still rugby fans in North America. One of my uses of Sage is to record rugby matches - such as the Heineken Cup matches from the last week. (Sorry for the belated response on this)

Are the .autoCompress files supposed to be left - can I delete them or are they supposed to have been automatically deleted?

The .autocompress files don't get automatically deleted, as their presence prevents a continuous compression loop from occurring if you do compressions to MPEG2 ie:MPEG2 HD to MPEG2 SD.

It is safe to delete the .autocompress files on anything compressed to anything other than MPEG2.

If you use comskip monitor you can have it clean up those files when an avi with matching name is no longer present.
