Arrow STV Import: Multispeed Continuous FF/REW Import for SageMC

Hi Everyone,

There have been some requests for a SageMC port of nielm's Multispeed Continuous FF/REW Import. Nielm has kindly given his permission for this.
So without further ado, here it is.

This import is known to work best with the SageTV decoder. Please see the original import thread for disclaimers and additional information here.

Aloha,
Mike

Thank you Mike for this import. This is one of the best features I've seen out there, it just wasn't available for SageMC.

mickp, I still think you have at least (1) one (no pun intended, or, maybe it was...) typo, LOL.

What remote commands do I assign to use this? And how do people use the the other skipping options in conjunction with this? I have a harmony remote, which only has ff/rew and skip fwb/back buttons, and I am struggling to find the best combination of timing, etc.

I use a harmony remote, my ff/rew buttons are mapped to ff/rew smooth, and I think skip f/b is mapped to ff/rew fast, or 2 or whatever it's called. The buttons ff/rew have never worked for me. Only skip f/b. This import happens to use the buttons skip f/b for me, although I didn't try ff/rew. I may need to look at how I have things setup, as it's been a long time.

Right now it just duplilcates the behavior of nielm's original import. The smooth FF/REW functionality is bound to the Skip Fwd/Back commands. However, it would be easy to add the option to bind it to a choice of the Smooth FF/REW or Skip Fwd/Back commands. I'll take a look at it as soon as time permits.

Aloha,
Mike

It makes logical sense for it to be the smooth one, but once you figure it out it doesn't matter anyway. My harmony thinks sage is some weird offbrand dvd/vcr anyhow. Shhhhhh, don't tell it...

My Harmony thinks SageTV is a Microsoft MCE Remote, and I believe a Snapstream remote or something...LOL.

I imported it into SageMC then press Smooth FF and RW the SageMC timer bar on bottom speed up forward or rewind but the video still play normally.

Am I suppose to link it to some other command? I am quite not sure if I install it correctly

Can you explain if there was a command I need to link it or I use the SageTV Smooth FF and RW link?

Thanks
Bill

Mine is working with just the regular small skip forward button (same as ctrl-a and ctrl-f).

Hi Guys,

I just uploaded a new version to the downloads section. I replaced the Enable/Disable option with an option to specify keybinding to Skip Fwd/Bkwd , Skip Fwd/Bkwd #2 , Smooth FF/REW, or Disabled. Hopefully this will give a little bit more flexibility in making the behavior fit with different remote control layouts.

Aloha,
Mike

Go to Settings >> SageMC >> Extras

Is there an option there for the Multispeed FF/REW plugin configuration? If so, open it and look at the first option. Is the plugin enabled?

v1.0 of the plugin had the multispeed FF/REW bound to the Skip Fwd/Bkwd keys when enabled. The new version gives some more flexibility.

Aloha,
Mike

Thanks for the update Mike, I think this will work out better for me...because...

My wife said she didn't like it. =(

At least having them on the real REW/FF buttons will allow me to use it when I want to, and allow her to go back to the normal way of doing it. =)

Does anyone know if this plugin works for the new hardware accelerated SageTV mpeg2 decoder? I know it works fine with the old version.

Playback Speed

I installed this on a test box running 6.3.4 and SageMC. After doing so, all video playback is stuck at 2X speed. Restoring the default STV or reapplying SageMC before or after stopping the services and removing the files does not correct the issue. Any thoughts would be appriciated...

Update:

I also have tried directly playing the MPEG files in Windows Media Player and they are playing at 2X speed. Any assistance would be greatly appriciated as the system is unusable like this...

Update:

I just tried to play one of the divx movies on the system and it is fine...

SageMC v6.3.6 and higher has this plugin already built-in. This plugin has been deprecated.
