As for which JAR to use, they are backwards compatible so the latest date is the best as a rule. I try to include the latest version in all my imports. John |

John,
ComSkip playback works fine. I tried reinstalling several times each time shutting down Sage, installing the package, reverting back to the default STV and then reimporting. I'll try a few more things before I give up. Edit: Not sure what I did differently but now the menus all look good. I set up several test so I will know tomorrow if it compresses successfully.

Installed Twice?
John,
I think I somehow managed to get AutoCompress installed twice. Here are some excerpts from my log file: Quote:
Thanks, Tom

If you do want to uninstall it, just start from a fresh STV and don't import it. John |

John,
I only have one instance of Sage with AutoCompress installed. I'll try reverting back to the original STV and starting over. Thanks, Tom

Tom, if your MVP's are using an STV that has has the import loaded, then they will run the scan too.

It is not installed on the MVPs. I only installed it on the server, but I did install it there 2 (or maybe 3) times when trying to get it to work. I'm at work now but will try to look at it later....

Looked through the thread, but I didn't see this. How about an option to autocompress files when they've been archived? I always wanted an archive that compressed the file and sent it to another folder anyhow, I think it would be useful.

Ok, something went screwy. It's not kicking off with just the MVP connected anymore. Didn't start until I connected via PS a bit ago and when I disconnected and came back a while later it listed the conversion as Failed. I haven't updated the STVi since the version we thought "fixed" it. I can leave sage running local and sleeping, but I'd rather not. Any ideas? Turned into a headache hasn't it

Can you check that it's enabled there on the MVP. John |

It was enabled on the MVP, but I toggled the bit anyway. Also noticed a couple of failed conversions for the same favorite since I posted (one I manually kicked off from the server). I'm thinking this is just an issue w/ my setup. I'm hoping the wife will "approve" a server upgrade soon or the HD-MVP will get rolled out and this won't be an issue. I can then just use it to do divx compression for archiving after smi/srt extraction. I left Sage sleeping on the server, but I won't know if that worked on this favorite until Monday afternoon.

Auto Compress along with the comskip files
Since some effort has been put into the software waiting until the comskip file(s) have been created and we are trying to save space by using compression, is there a way to get the compression to take action on the .edl file to cut the commercials out of the resulting .avi file?

Bit of a surprise when I got home today. The server had "mysteriously" rebooted itself. Missing sage tray icon and the mobo raid tool in the task bar were the first clues. Did some digging in the event recorder and found 3 stop 0x50's in the past week. seems 2 of the 3 happened during the times autocompress would have been running. Took me a bit to stumble on the cpu temp in the tray. Haven't looked at it @ 100% load in awhile. After only ~5min transcoding, the sensor was reporting 65C. It usually runs in the min 50's. ok, check for dust in the fins and find next to none. looked back at the temp while the cover was off and it had dropped to the mid 50's. put the cover back on and it started climbing w/in minutes. Guess 2 80mm fins + the psu fan can't move enough CFM to cover the GPU and CPU thermal load. for now I have the cover off running 51C @ 48% load. it went down to the mid 40's idle while ago.
long winded I am tonight. we'll see if I have another failed conversion tomorrow afternoon. my guess right now is the CPU got too hot and crashed the system.

ok, everything seems to be "cool" now. pardon the pun. disabled the local client running the conversion and enabled it back on the MVP. today's process went off w/o a hitch. maybe i can talk the wife into some upgrades. I've long ago blown the argument of Sage being a one-time fee and TiVo being a monthly expense and eating more $$$ in the long run. Darn unexpected hardware upgrades/failures.
I'm at least going to need more HDD space soon unless I find time to cut commercials and compress some archives to divx.

1080i MPEG2 / AC3 5.1 .ts file conversion
I am wondering if anyone has a successful profile for transcoding HD MPEG2/AC35.1 .ts file to 1080P H264/AAC5.1 .mp4 file at high quality? My tests have produced only (no video)/AAC2.1 .mp4 file.

Autocompress deleting my mpgs but no avi left
I've finally managed to get my favorites marked for autocompress, but to my distress, my mpg's were deleted and no avi showed in their place.
What should I do to provide appropriate information to get some help? Thanks in advance, I've been waiting for this product. I really didn't want to have to make my own |

Are you sure your source files had 5.1 sound to begin with? Some shows, while in HD, only have AC3 2.1 sound.

No Video/ only 2.1 channel sound
Yup, AC3 6 Channel, but even more disturbing is the "(no video)".
