Man have things changed. Need help deciphering everything now.

OK, I have spent the last few hours searching through posts upon post trying to figure out my next move. I think I am more confused now.

I am an old SageTV user. I think my last upgrade was to an early version of 5. Since then my HTPC was retired due to hardware failure and I pretty much forgot about it...

That was then, this is now.

SageTV 6, placeshifter, client, extender, swapable licenses... Geez I don't know where to start. Maybe you guys could shed some light.

Right now I just have analog cable, but maybe digital (NOT HD) cable in the future.

I have a "server" PC running XP pro with hardware Raid 5 running that I want to act as my sageTV server. I WILL NOT be watching any TV from it. Its sole purpose will be to record shows.

I have a Mac Mini with 2 gigs of ram and a big LCD monitor that I want to watch tv from.

I also have a MacBook Pro that I would like to watch TV from occasionally. Might be cool to watch TV over the internet too.

I have a regular SDTV Sony that I want to watch recorded tv on.

Where do I go from here???

My thoughts:
Get a PVR500 Dual tuner for the Server and upgrade my Sage license to 6.
Get a Media Extender for the regular TV.

Here is where I get cloudy.

What do I do with the Macs? Placeshifter? I am guessing for occasional use for the Macbook Pro. Placeshifter would be it.

What about the mini? I'd like to use it for Music as well as TV, but if memory serves me correctly, Sage Media Center's MUSIC section was lacking. Is that still the case? Rumored is a Client for Mac? Would this offer me any distinct advantage over Placeshifter on OS X (Yes I am aware that it is not out yet)?

Misc thoughts and questions:
How does LiveTV handle 3 devices, recording and only 2 tuners (If my system were to only have 1 pvr-500??).
How is placeshifters quality over Gigabit LAN and 802.11G?
Is there upgrade pricing for old SageTV users to 6?
How secure is Placeshifter over the internet?
Am I going about this right or do you guys see some flaws to my logic?

Sorry for so many questions, but there is alot to digest..
Jeff
