WinTV-PVR-350 Stability?

I've read some old threads about the WinTV-PVR-350 being unstable with SageTV.

Is this situation improved these days? Can I expect to run SageTV with a WinTV-PVR-350 and have no stability/lockup issues now?

Thanks.

I think the problems people had were using the TV out on the 350's to connect to the TV.

I have 2 350's and they work fine, but I don't use the TV out. I use MVP's and normal graphics cards s-video out. If thats how you plan to use it, then you shouldn't have any problems.

Thanks Doc. BTW, I'm new to this stuff. What exactly is an "MVP"? Do you lose any noticeable video quality when connecting the TV to the video cards TV instead of to the 350's TV out?

Thanks ...

its a hauppauge "music video picture" extender. It plugs into your network, and then has either a scart(european) or s-video/composite/audio connectors(US) that connect directly to your TV. You need an extender license on the sage server to use one, they're pretty cheap. You can buy a package of mvp/extender license from Sage, or buy them seperately. They run silent so you dont get the noise you do from a pc, and the quality is better than I get from my nvidia 6600GT graphics card. You can then run your sage server from a different room, as long as you have a network connection between them. There is a wireless version but a lot of people have problems with those, and have to use them wired.

They don't do high definition, just standard definition, but there is going to be a high definition version coming out in the next few months, though it will probably cost a lot more.

The hauppauge mvp in the UK cost about £60.

Have a look here for details of the unit.

If you need any more info, just ask. Theres a lot of people on here who know a hell of a lot more than I do

Thanks Doc! That MVP sure looks awfully sweet! It's the perfect solution for my application.

be wary of the wireless model as many people on this board have had trouble connecting or maintaining a connection back to the sage server with them. I even had to do some tricks w/ my DHCP server to get a wired model to work on my network.
