I undertand your frustration. I remember well the lump I got on my forehead from beating my head against the wall setting this up.
I was not sure what 127.0.0.1 was so I put it in Yahoo's search. Turns out it is called a loopback address for network interface cards. It just allows you to check if your NIC is working properly. 192.168.0.101 is what you'll need to use. The fact that you got a ping from Sage in the R5000 app means that Sage and the R5000 app are talking to each other. I know with mine, it sometimes takes a while for video to start in Sage. Much longer than with my PVR250s. It seems like it sometimes takes a minute or so (It is probably not really that long, but it sometimes seems like it). Channel changes are also slow. The slowness is not an issue for me now because shows get recorded fine and I rarely use it to watch something live. If you did not wait a while for video to start, I'd suggest trying again with 192.168.0.101. Good luck and hang in there. Once it is working you will be glad you did. |

127.0.0.1 works for me and for many other R5000 users. This is the so-called localhost address that always refers to the local machine you're running on, without having to know that machine's actual IP address. This is exactly the sort of application it's meant for: talking to another process on the same machine.
Most likely your problems are the result of editing Sage.properties while Sage is running, as Rob said. My advice would be to do things in this order: 1. Stop Sage completely (including SageTVService, if you use it). 2. Fire up the R5000 app and set the port there. 3. Edit your Sage.properties, setting your IP address to 127.0.0.1 and your port to the same number as in step 2. 4. Start Sage and configure video sources. I sympathize with your frustration, but realize that in buying an R5000 you're putting yourself out there on the bleeding edge of advanced Sage users. This was never meant to be a plug-and-play solution for Sage newbies. The assumption is that you're already well practiced at configuring Sage systems, editing properties files, etc., and the written instructions reflect that assumption.

Thanks Greg, put in 127.0.0.1 with 6969port. also 6969 in R5000appl
I am getting a ping from Sage, but no vid. The Sourse says(Dish-211 100383D 127.0.0.1:6969 usb :null) How much setup do I need to do??? I got the PVR from Okoro with Sage already installed and more or less setup. Reading the manual now to see if I missed anything. Also, did complete setup and when I check video, I get ""no signal""!!! I know the R5000 is outputting, I recorded a portion with R5000 app., sent it to David at nextcom and he said it was fine. FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After almost giving up I HAVE VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!. Not sure just what was the problem, but change the port to 6968 and it worked. Tried that before and it didn't. Must have just got the combination right.
All channels are working, but my HD channels. I get no signal when I choose an HD channel. Is that a function of the video card??? Thank you all for the help in getting this newbie started!!!!!!!!!!! JIm |

HD channels are hit and miss right now because some channels have been changed to H.264 encoding. Sage does not support these yet, but they are working on it and expect it to be released before long. I also have dish networks and I know that TNTHD still works fine. If you can't get a signal on it, then there is something else going. You may also need to try a different video and/or audio decoder (in the detail setup page). I use Nvidia for both audio and video decoding. What are yours currently set to? |

thanks Rob!! I am using the nvidia also. I wasn't aware of the HD problems. I bought this thinking I could record HD. that is why I got away from Tivo. Looks like the Sage folks try to keep up with everything, so hope they get this working soon.
My R5000 program just crashed every so often, especially if I tune to an HD channel. Sometimes for no reason I can see. Anyone having this problem?? Jim |

According to a post made in the 6.1.3 beta release thread, Sage is working on the H.264 problem and will address it in the next release or two. So they are working on it.

Which version of the R5000 software are you running? I haven't been able to run the 2.5b since it crashes usually during channel changes, but I've been running the 2.4g with no crashing issues.

Here's the link to the 2.4g that I'm using, it's not listed on the website, but a look at the release notes mentions it and a guess at the file name got me it.

Before I downloaded 24g, I have 25b. I thought I remembered a post about having problems with live tv with sage. I was leaving mine on live tv and getting r5000 crash every 30 minutes or so. Took it off live and now no problems. I can switch to my dish reciever to watch live, but is there a way to watch live in sage without crash???? Recorded Star Trek on Hdnet, my first hd recording AWESOME!!!!!!!!
