Immediate Crash in new Vista setup
Just built a computer to act as my sage server but it will not start. This is a fresh Vista installation and I have the same problem with release 6.0.19 and the latest beta. Here is what happens:
The install went smoothly - no errors. When I start Sage I get an immediate error from Vista stating "SageTV has stopped working." This occurs whether I try to work in service mode or not. When I try to start Sage as a Service I get an error 1053 - service did not respond in a timely fashion. Here are some things I have tried but have not helped. 1. Tried sage in service and non-service modes. 2. Disabled user account control and all antivirus/firewall/malware etc. 3. Run as administrator for Sage and Sage in service mode 4. When trying service I tried using local machine and two different administrator accounts that are on the computer. 5. Updated JAVA to 1.6 (originally tried 1.4) 6. Put the option in the properties file to debug, but the sage does not get far enough to even produce a log. 7. Stopped the media center receiver service None of these have made a difference in the errors reported and I'm not sure what else to try or where to look to figure what the problem is. My hardware is AMD Athalon X2 3800+, M2N32-SLI Deluxe MB, ASUS EN7600GS, 2gig Corsair XMS2, 150gig WD Raptor primary Drive, 5x500gig Hitachi Deskstar RAID 5 array with a 3ware 9650 controller, NVIDIA Dual TV card (working in MCE). I'm thinking of giving up and switching to XP unless anyone has any ideas. Vista may not be ready for primetime. I've seen a few post by others with some similar problems but no solution |

Make sure you disable all the media center services, as I bet Vista has control of your video hardware, and Sage is bombing out when it trys to access it.
