6.1.6Rc crashes

My kids and I have been able to crash the system half a dozen times now.

1. Read recently that recording transport streams not as program stream is not longer supported, so I made the switch and set the propertie value to true: Touching any of the previously recorded SD shows (ts, from my HDHR) would crash the server - if playback was initiated from the MVP. EDIT: same for show in mpeg containers.

2. Now, after the switch I was trying to watch the Simpsons which were being recorded by my HDHR, one of my boys was doing the same using a client: as soon as I hit play the server crasher whereas playback through the client seems fine.

Where did you read this? I've not managed to find anything about this so far. This would be a problem for me.....

Andy.

It is one for me. I saw a post from Narflex very recently, in some thread, more like a footnote.

When I have encode digital as program stream = false, all I get to see instead of Live TV from my HDR via the MVP is a green screen. If it's set to true, the server crashes which I reported.

My main clients are my three MVP's, and about two thirds of my recordings are digital. I haven't been able to play any SD recording from my HDHR over the MVP.

http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...&postcount=142 is where he states that. since the statement was made in a specific thread I am treating it as being specific to that thread. I think that it would have been part of the 6.1.6 announcement if it really was meant as a general announcement. I have encountered problems with . ts files but they do not crash the system. They just cause Sage to hang. Here is the last response I got from support on 3/20/07, the same date as the referenced post:

Same problem as before. There's some TS recording which is hanging the
format parser. In 6.1.6 it'll print out which file it is in the logs when it
happens.

Not sure if this is related, but after upgrading to 6.1.6rc I can no longer view HD channels off of firewire capture from my STB. Running graphedit on the Sgraphrec graph creates a TS which is playable in WMP. However, the mpg file Sage has sgraphrec create isnt playable in WMP or Graphedit (or by Sage for that matter, Sage continually asks SGR what the file size is even though the file is getting bigger). I think the parser may be broken. I'll send in a bug report with a log when I get home tonight.

We've got a repro on this one now and are in the process of fixing it. Will post a patch later today.

Patch might not make it out today. This one took more time to fix then we thought. But hopefully we'll get one out over the weekend. Sorry for the delay on that.

Thank God (and you guys) for this fix. The wife and I had it out this morning when she jumped on her iTreadmill to workout and I couldn't get SageTV working for nothin. Log reported a hang and memory usage kept climbing.

That file fixed it.

The patch doesn't seem to have fixed the issues I was having. I think it tunes in successfully more often, but I'm still getting hangs and crashes when it tries to tune an HD channel most of the time. Will file a formal bug report soon.
