can i vary recording quality by program type?
For a long time I kept my default record quality at max and it worked fine - until I filled up most of my 400gb drive. At that point my favorites kept getting deleted after a couple of days because there was not enough room left on the drive. Now I set the default quality to good so I get a lot more shows but I'm not happy with the quality of sports. Is there any way to have sports record at a different quality than everything else? Alternatively, I know I can set the default quality by tuner card (I have 3 PVR-250s) could i set one of them to max and have all sports run off of that card?
thanks. |

How do you record sports? You do have favorites? If so, you can simply adjust the recording quality of your sports favorites.

As I recall, you can choose recording quality for each favorite.

Interesting idea; might be a nice feature to have recording quality based on categorization as well as favorites (of course, you'd have to have some rules about which would win, and that could get complex), but I can see benefits for Intelligent Recording.

Yes i believe you can do this. If you pull up each of the recording series, it has recording quality there. So yes, you can adjust it. I just use the Global default for all mine....

thanks for the replies. i was hoping to do it without favorites though because I don't want it to record every baseball game on TV, I want to be able to see what's on and watch it live which uses the default quality. Right now I have the default quality on good and the favorites that I care about I set to a higher quality so sports seem to be the only real issue because they look pretty bad unless they're on the highest quality.
Thanks again. |

Suggest it as a feature request; I've started doing that for things that I see need improvement (in my opinion).

I have keyword favorites for all my Patriots/Red Sox/Celtics games with a Favorite's quality setting of Max MPEG-2 and the global default at dvd Good. This works for me and it doesn't record every game from every team...
