Angry Lockups - Kind Of

I just recently upgraded to the new version of Sage.

First off my configuration.

Running Sage as Service and Client on same machine.
2 DirecTV STB
Nvidia Dual TV
Recording to network drives on server using UNC no drives are mapped.
No problems with previous version in same configuration.

Here is what happens, say I am watching Discovery or any other channel for that matter, I am watching the 2pm show, at 2:30pm when the next show begins, the picture freezes like it is changing the channel. It will hang there.

Now sage is not locked up, and if I go to the guide and select another channel it will tune to this channel just fine and then I can tune back to the orig channel and the show will continue.

This has just started after upgrading to the new version of Sage, anyone else experienceing this problem?

THanks

Mine pauses sometimes momentarily however, have read that gettiing the manufacturers codecs helps as well as the optimization of the registry that is on sages support page the same place where the forum link is. Seems this version has more overhead so, I am personally going to need to free a little processor to record 4 channels, play back on the big screen and let the kids watch using their laptops and placeshifter...is a juggling act for sure.

Make sure you are using no customizations. If it still happens, then enable debug logging to get a log to submit. If you are using a client or service mode, you will need to also enable logging in sageclient.properties.

Changing the following properties (with SageTV not running) has helped some with channel change issues, YMMV.
Code:
seeker/fast_mux_switch=false
videoframe/safe_fast_file_switching=false

Thanks for the information, I will give those a try.

I disabled the SageTV service last night and tried running sage stand alone instead of client/server but it made no difference.

I will try the other suggestions and report back.

Thanks for the help

I stopped the SageTV Client
I stopped the SageTV service

Modified the sageclient properties file and changed debug_logging=TRUE in caps.

Restarted the service and the client.

Ran for a day.

Stopped SageTv client and service, and there is no log file?

I am looking for a file called sagetvclient_0.txt right.

In fact there are no files in the sagetv directory that match that.

HELP

Did you edit the existing properties file in the correct directory?

Do you have extensions visible in Windows? If not, you may have edited the .autobackup file instead.

K, did a bug submission but I see no place to send the file to so I guess I will wait to hear from Sage.

If anyone would like to see a snippet of the log during the time the lockup occured, let me know and I will attempt to post it here.

Thanks

Updaate:

I received an e-mail back from Sage Support asking me to try this

videoframe/safe_fast_file_switching=false

This did not solve the problem, I recieved the MVP Extender today, hooked it up and got it running. It is doing the same thing as the client-server was doing.

So now I have tried this line as well per rickygillyons post.

seeker/fast_mux_switch=false

I will let you know if it fixes the problem. I love the extender, should have done this a long time ago.

Still locking up.

In fact using the MVP is worse. It actually causes the MVP player to reboot if you press the guide button to try and recover from the lockup.

Something is rotten in denmark.

Oh well, back to Sage Tech support.
