Some Google / YouTube videos don't work on MVP, -0:00:00 length on timeline

Hi,

I'm able to play some Google/YouTube videos fine, but others don't work.

After Sage's "buffering" message some videos show only a black screen, no audio, the timeline shows the video is -0:00:00 long, and the timeline's bar never progresses. I've tried waiting a few minutes for the video to play with no luck, and my only option is to press stop to go back to the search results. When I find the same videos on youtube.com or video.google.com they play fine, and aren't adult rated. I can't find any difference between the working and non-working videos.

I'm using the latest version of Sage 6.1.9, and the SageTV3.xml stv that came with it.

Has anyone else seen this issue?

most likely adult content, or what others have tagged as inappropriate - YouTube and Google both need responses to get the videos, so they are unable to be played outside of their website

I doubt that's the case, since the same "problem" videos are not tagged as inappropriate when I view them using a browser.

I believe I'm finding the same exact video using IE since the title/length/author/description all match what Sage's results show.

I have never registered with either website, and am not prompted for any info when I view them using IE.

Great idea!

When I used Sage to do a Google video search for "zacchen mario", the only result is a vid called "Super Mario Galaxy" by zacchen. Trying to play the vid in Sage reproduces my problem.

Using IE to search video.google.com for the same terms finds the same vid. It's not flagged as inappropriate, and it plays fine.

Am I the only one with this problem?

This one plays fine for me. I noticed it's a YouTube video served by Google, and I remember there was an issue with those in earlier STV versions. But since you said you are already using the latest version, this can't be it...

Thanks, you've helped me narrow the problem down a bit.

I use Sage primarily through an MVP since I hide the server in a closet. I tested viewing this vid from the server and it plays fine! The stv I'm using shows as 6.1.9.0 April 12, 2007 on both the MVP and the server. I was sure to unplug/replug in the MVP after upgrading.

Looks like the problem is MVP related...

Is anyone able to play this vid using an MVP?

Thanks SHS,

Just to clarify, did your 4x4 video play fine if viewed off the Sage server, but hang and show -0:00:00 when played from an MVP?

Thanks. I'll assume it's not a problem with my setup, and that Jeff/Sage is working on it...

FYI, from Sage support...

We found the issue and we will be fixing it in a later version. It should be
in the next release, 6.2.

Check out the STV v6.1.9.1 update. That STV should fix this issue.
