Official Portal for Feature Requests?

Is there one? I often try to post messages asking for things, but of late my messages are being heavily moderated - content changed, merged with other threads, etc.

I've filed bugs before, but I don't think everything is a bug. I'm in SW Development, and I know how these things work.

So is there somewhere that I can post a thread that won't get changed by the forum police and will be guaranteed to be read by someone at Sage?

btl.

The forum is user-to-user, as is stated in several places such as my sig lines, the forum rules, and even the main forum index page; it is not monitored for feature suggestions.

As for 'heavy moderation', your posts are being moved where they should have been posted in the first place (each forum subsection has a description for its content) or merged with existing topics that you don't seem to have noticed were posted within the past few days. If you check for existing threads before posting the same thing, your repeat topics wouldn't get merged to help keep things organized.

I believe the only content change was adding a comment that a post was merged so the next post pointing you to the same thread wasn't confusing to others.

You are right - I noticed text from one of my messages missing a few days ago, but it's back now. I was no doubt up past my bedtime on the forum - that happens way too often!

I don't mind messages getting moved in general to different sections. However, merging with other threads doesn't always serve the users best interest. The title of a recent post of mine was "DVD Navigation STILL Broken in 6.2.6" - an emphatic statement of fact. In the new merged thread it's changed to "Is DVD Selection ..." - a question. Not a huge deal, but I was hoping someone at Sage might be browsing the topics and would see that - but now they will just see a question and not a fact, and might not take time to dig any deeper.

Narflex said in his post about 6.2.6 "yes, we've been paying attention to your feedback". Which feedback is he talking about? I don't feel like I need support for these issues, so I'm not going to follow a "get support" link. And a feature request / comment on possible improvement is not a bug, so I'm not going to file a bug.

If the forums is not the place to be heard, where is?

There wasn't a promise to read all the forum posts in the first place -- the beta release notes post asks people to submit bug reports, my sig lines have a link to the bug submission forum & the tech support request form, and the forum index includes those links too.

Tech support requests and bug submissions.

I read the forum and reply to a few beta issues or even fix a UI issue before it gets submitted as a bug report, but forum posts may or may not be seen by others at SageTV & I'm not going to email a link for each topic, so bug reports are what get more attention -- and yes, people have sent in reports w/feedback about UI changes & other general purpose topics.

I know there wasn't a promise. Narflex has been seen on these forums however, and probably other Sage employees as well. So it was a shot in the dark, just trying to escalate the problem by giving it more visability

I'll submit requests there. I (and many here on the forums I bet) have sunk more than a little money into SageTV and the requisite equipment to deploy it in our houses, so finding an avenue to make ourselves heard officially is something that is important, both for Sage and Us. Maybe if there was a sticky or mention somewhere that feature requests and concerns are acceptable support ticket issues would be good. Not everyone pays attention to your sig, and more than one person here directs comments to the folks at Sage.

This is understood - I don't' think anyone expects that of you. We appreciate your presence here - you seem to have an encyclopedic memory of which threads have answers to which questions, which makes getting said answers a lot quicker for us users.
