Well, got distracted, blindly clicked on the install exe and accidently updated the whole thing to .30 .... gulp!
Well, it seems happy so far .... did a reboot, put it to sleep, woke it, several short recordings on both tuners .... if it stays happy I'll leave it rather than back off the other two devices back to .19. I'm thinking .30 is meant to be Vista 32 and I'm running XP 32. I'll keep you posted. Fingers crossed!!!

Well, I'm glad the full install is possible working okay for you. When I did that, Sage wouldn't show any image/audio when it tuned the channel, and channel scans would come up empty. That's why I only updated the tuner, when I updated either of the others I got empty channel scans.

Are you tuning QAM or ATSC?

Tuning ATSC on both cards, maybe thats the diff. I recently replaced a HVR-1600 with the HDHR for QAM. HD is crazy here, CBS not on cable in HD and NBC is only on cable so I need to mix things up to get everything! :-)

Anyhow, thanks for the tip and I report back by this time next week if results are good ... sooner if not.

Thumbs up Avermedia M780 .... stable setup for ATSC/NTSC

I finally have what seems to be a stable M780 setup!

After several weeks of running 6.5.3 with the Avermedia .30 drivers (beta) I can report absolutely no errors. System uses S3 Sleep, and records ATSC (over the Air HD) and NTSC (Analog Cable). No issues. Once I upgraded to Sage 6.5.3 my occasional Java crash went away ... hopefully for good.

Note that I'm running XP Pro, the beta .30 drivers claim Vista with no mention of XP support.

yup! Those are it. I have not used them with QAM, there has been a running thread on Greenbutton forums on using .30 to fix BSOD issues, reports are favorable, I get the impression most of those folks are doing QAM.

I did a full install of the .30 drivers. Now Sage is not tuning any of my QAM channels it did under the .29 drivers. Dangit!

So, it sounds like under XP the .30 are fine for ATSC but not QAM

Maybe so. I got some logs to send to Qian. I am sure he is sick of me and this card by now though.

I upgraded to .30 yesterday as well (in XP). It works fine for OTA signals - no difference that I can see. Still have the issue though when OTA and STB (S-video) are recording at the same time... the svideo signal still gets messed up (usually after about 10-15 minutes).

I must be the only Sage user with a m780 using QAM.

Does it work? I need to order a card tonight and run a NTSC/QAM setup.

In XP only with the .29 drivers. I can't get Sage to tune any QAM channels with the beta .30 drivers. The .29 drivers will cause a bluescreen if the tuner is used after resuming from standby though. The .30 driver this is supposed to be fixed, but I don't know. I don't have any experience with it under Vista at all.
