Newer Avermedia M780 drivers

I was dicking around searching for some more XP/MCE QAM info for the M780 (it appears to only support clearQAM under Vista) and found a link to this page:
drivers

These appear to be newer than the version off the main US site and version synced with the Vista drivers. Anyone in test mode (I am in WAF friendly mode) that wants to try them?
Opus...anyone at Sage/Frey have some cycles to test them?
Avermedia needs to get some learning on making some damn drivers release notes!
thanks...

Edit: I am most curious to see if these drivers support clearQAM through XP/MCE, as I want to use that.

These drivers installed on my Vista x64 system a long time ago via windows update. They also have been available inside one of their player downloads MCS. I have been using these driver on x64 with about the same results as the .18 drivers. I still can't get analog to record without crashing Sage but digital works fine. I believe the crashing is only a Vista x64 problem.

For MCE I think that hope is a lost cause. The only way MCE seems to support clear QAM is the HDHR or CableCards (or have I missed something).

What about getting QAM support in Sage? What do we need to do to help the process?

You must have missed something - the 6.2 release notes, perhaps

ClearQAM support for the Hauppauge HVR-1600 & HVR-1800 on Windows
ClearQAM support for the AverMedia M780 on Vista only
To clarify, When I said "support clearQAM through XP/MCE", I meant OS driver support, not anything to do with the MCE media application. MCE is also a special Edition of the XP OS that happens to bundle a Media Center Application. I run sageTV and have never run the MCE application.

I think it is a limitation of the XP drivers for the M780.
I was hopeful because the older (.18 version) vista drivers support QAM from what I understand. These newer drivers for both platforms are the same version and are both newer than a revision of .18

I would also be extremely interested in ClearQAM being able to work on XP with the M780! Any particular reason why it would work on Vista but not XP?

I must have indeed. More than once, because I tried it last night and got bupkiss. It scanned and said it found 4 channels, but then none of those 4 worked. Using the Avermedia app gets alot more channels and they all tune perfectly fine.
This was all under Vista Home Premium. Of course this was using the last RC so time to get the real release and see what happens.

kricker,
was this using the new drivers I linked to above? A lot of tuner cards have support for QAM in their application and not their drivers (BDA interface, I presume). I suspect that is the issue with m780 on XP thus far.
Anyone have an XP system they want to give a shot with these new drivers?
Also, it appears QAM is not always a straitfoward setup. here is a thread that taks about such.

Trying with the drivers posted above and I still get nothing. Why does everything have to be such a PIA!

Still nada. Takes forever to scan, tests like 70+ channels, but tunes nothing.

I know those release notes said that QAM works with the m780 in Vista but does anyone actually have it working? I tried yesterday with Vista x64 with no luck using the .19 drivers.

To give an update, I am making progress on using this card with Sage to record clearQAM channels. There are some issues at the moment that support is helping me work thru. Things are starting to look up though!

Kricker,
It looked like above you might have been using Vista at one point and XP at another for some testing? Is the progress that you made in this last message under XP or Vista? thanks.

Anybody using the .19 drivers with XP? Any issues? Working OK?

I'm still using .14 (I have 2 of these cards) and it works 95% fine (OTA HD and Satellite STB), but once in a while I have issues (massive pixelation for ~30 seconds, chipmunk voices after commercials when HD, etc.) and am wondering if upgrading drivers would fix these issues for me. Don't want to try if they cause more issues than they solve. Thanks!

I got some files from Sage support, rolled back to the .18 drivers, and so far I am having good success. The crashing when changing from and SD to HD channel no longer happens, and so far the recording of clearQAM looks god. I'll report again in a few days time.

Any update Kricker? Every once in a while my Sage Service crashes when it starts recording something... wondering if they've fixed this.
