Headless Linux Sage server
I want to run my sagetv server without a monitor. Since there will be no monitor I don't want the local client to run. How do I disable that?

You can remove the services you don't want to start on boot with rc-update del scriptname.
You can find the various scripts running in /etc/runlevels/default. To prevent X from starting you could remove the xdm one with rc-update del xdm This will boot the server in text mode instead and won't start the client software. You could also reinstall gentoo (or another distribution) without any graphical user interface to save space and only install the latest server.tar.gz with its dependencies. _Demo_ |
