Angry What is causing recording to be a mess on one tuner??

I have a server running Windows 2003 with latest version of sagetv. I using 2 Fusion USB D tuners, 1 nvidia dual tuner, I Vbox Cats Eye 150 HD tuner.

Now most of the time the recording on the Vbox end up being no good. The will stutter and skip.

I have swapped the incoming cable connection from the OTA anttena with a Usb HD tuner. Also removed a Fusion tuner that did the same thing and installed the Vbox. Thinking the fusion was bad.

Any thoughts on how to diagnose this?

Is the vbox sharing an IRQ interrupt with the nVidia tuner or any other device? Maybe remove all of your tuners and just work with the vBox in a different slot and reinstall the drivers. Also go into your BIOS and disable any devices you're not using like a floppy drive, parallel and serial ports to free up some more interrupts before you reinstall the card and drivers.

Your description is a hard for me to follow. I'm assuming that you're:
- receiving ATSC OTA (not cable QAM)
- this issue is present on all channels recorded (not just a single channel)
- your 2nd Fusion USB D tuner recording were 'no good', so; you put in a PCI Vbox digital tuner
- the Vbox Cats Eye 150 HD tuner is now the '2nd Digital Tuner' and 'all' of it's recordings are 'no good'

Question: Are these messed up recordings always a '2nd show being recorded while another show also records'? If so, this sounds like there's data bottle-neck.

DIAGNOSTICS:

- While recording, check your CPU performance (Task Manager)
- Try swapping PCI card positions
- Try removing all the other tuners, just test the Vbox 150 HD
- If both digital tuners are recording at the same time, and the second tuner's recording are alway messed up, take a look at your hard-drive setup. (formatted 64K)

You can also ask for official tech support from SageTV. They can have you enable logging and look for any errors. Support Request.

I just check and the Vbox is on it's own interrupt(17) .

For tuners, I have

2 USB fusion HD (connected to an OTA antenna, just for HD)

1 Nvidia dual tuners (1 connect to a STB with s-video. the other connected to cable)

1 Vbox (connected to OTA for just HD)

I did have a PCI fusion lite that had the same problem as the vbox is having. So I thought it was bad and that's why I just got the vbox.

Also, I did swap the OTA connection between the Vbox and one of the usb tuners and it stayed with the vbox.

Let me know if you need any more info.

It's possible that your having PCI bus/driver conflicts with another card. Pulling out the other PCI cards (and maybe removing their drivers) might allow the vbox to record smoothly.

Beyond that, you could also try contacting Sage technical.

I found I could not use my last PCI slot (farthest from graphics) running three Fusion5Lites. Hint came from my Hardware RAID card mfg, requesting that their PCI card be installed closest to graphics adapter. Could be interrupt, but also could be throughput diminishment on PCI bus???

This took a long time to methodically track down. Today I can record all three OTA simultaneous along with a Firewire HD recording without stuttering.
