Sage 6.2.10 : Meerket ugly Color Theme help

Nothing earth shattering here

But what is annoying the hell out of me is the blue on blue color theme for the recording folders, it's just "Meerket ugly" and hard for me to see. Is there a hidden or not so hidden way to get the YELLOW framed folders color back?

Like I said, Nothing Earth Shattering.

thanks

This is what the new Theme system is for -- see the theme info in the beta forum and/or Appendix O in the PDF manual.

The old folder image (folder.png) is available in the same directory as where the STV is located. You could use it in a custom theme to replace the FileFolder.png and/or GroupingIcon.png images, found in the default theme directory ("...\STVs\SageTV3\Themes\Standard SDTV").

Using a custom theme, you could replace any of the images you want to change.

I agree. Colors are probably distinct on a PC screen, but not on TV.

Sure would like "number of recordings" to be superimposed on the folder as a large number. This frees up one line that says the same thing over and over on each line. And the freed up line would allow the series name to be in larger font.

Here's a zip file attached of images I modified so the highlights are a bit easier to distinguish on the TV for the Standard theme, mostly for MVP users. Just unzip the files into C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\Themes\Standard SDTV folder. Try it to see if it's better.

Zip file here.

For anyone using these files: you're better off creating a new theme directory instead. If you overwrite files in one of the default themes, your custom files will get replaced the next time you install an update & you'll have to remember to copy the files again. Plus, you'll probably need to restart SageTV to get the changed graphics to load. By putting them in a custom theme, you just need to change the theme in the UI w/o restarting in order to load the new images & they won't get replaced during the next upgrade install.

Exactly! Several of us can't use 6.2 because of this and I can't go back to 6.1 because of the bugs in 6.1. Blue on blue just doesn't work Sage people.

Can someone please post an QUICK and easy fix to change the Themes in 6.2 back to (or as close to) 6.1 colors?

I use a program called colorpic. It tells me the hex numbers of the colors then I change the part I want in theme.properties

One thing I did change in the Malore menus to make it easier to see. Was set the highlighted text to black.

# Malore custom menu button items:
ButtonText/Malore/NormalColor=0xF7F7F7
ButtonText/Malore/NormalShadowColor=0x1B1715
ButtonText/Malore/NormalShadowAlpha=110
ButtonText/Malore/SelectedColor=0x000000
ButtonText/Malore/SelectedShadowColor=0x1B1715
ButtonText/Malore/SelectedShadowAlpha=110

0x000000=black

Thanks. I tried it but I honestly don't see any difference. Also, blue folders on a blue background is not easy on the easy.

Right, I should've mentioned that because that's what I did. Did you removed the theme.properties file from the zip? I noticed its not there anymore. I did modified some values.

As Andy said, it won't show up until you restart the server. It is best to create a new custom theme. What I did was copy the "Standard SDTV" folder and name the new one "Standard MVP". Then unzip the zip file content into it. Then in Detailed Setup of the MVP, go to Advanced and select the Standard MVP theme.

Attached the zip file again, with the theme.properties file since somehow it was removed from the previous zip.
Attached Files
File Type: zip Standard.zip (52.1 KB, 253 views)

The previous attachment should probably be removed if this is just an update...

I am still confused as to how that color pic program can help me?

For example, in my C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTV\STVs\SageTV3\Themes\Custom

I made a copy of the STD theme and I like to edit the ButtonHighlight.png picture to some other color. What do I do?

I honestly think SageTV messed up big time here by now providing an Original Theme folder with the original colors. The current colors are very hard to see blue on blue.

You open up the .png file in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro or whatever and change it to be a different color. Or replace the file with one of your own creation that looks different.

or just use the 6.1 STV

If you don't mind loosing the new 6.2 user interface gizmos like the extra icons (that require an extra back press, then you can simply use the 6.1 STV (per a thread in the beta sticky section).
You can download it from the forum downloads section. I renamed the xml file to not overwrite the 6.2 STV. I put it in the same folder as the 6.2 STV, so that may explain why the hidden extras doesn't work right (I guess I need the complete 6.1 graphics pkg as well as the xml file in a separate folder, but I'm okay with the std interface). I'm good with 6.2 using 6.1 STV and am waiting for 6.2.11..?, which hopefully will add the original color scheme to Themes, and also allow disabling the extra icon row/column.
