Animations in 6.3.1

Since the Animations are no longer secret, I thought I'd create a new thread. I searched the old thread, but didn't find an answer, but did find a related question:

Under Setup--> Customize --> Animation Options, I see I can turn some of the animation options off, but highlighting the buttons is not one of them. Everything else looks great; just the highlights don't work so well for me.

I'm using Placeshifter on a LAN with a mouse, and while I really like the menu transitions (the slides, etc), the hovering highlight (following my mouse) is a bit slow. I can usually click the button before the highlight gets there. Without the animations (6.2), the highlight followed the mouse much closer. Is there any way to adjust the speed of the animation or turn it off for the highlights?

The ui/animation/focus_transition_duration property should control the focus animation speed. There isn't an option to disable it, but setting the duration to 0 should have that result.
