2 disc sets to play as one

If I have some movies which encompass 2 disks or more
is there a way to have them play out as a single loooonnngg movie?

Are you talking about a movie on two physical discs that you want Sage to somehow cache the data from the discs into Sage somehow and then playback all at once.

Or are you talking about having a movie stored in an import folder in multiple parts. If so, you could queue them up to play one after the other. Or else, combine the multiple videos into one master video, and you won't have to deal with it again.

For example I have ripped two discs to my hard drive which imports to my sage videos folder. So, they appear as two different movies in my video browser. I'd like Sage to consider them the same movie and as soon as the first "disc" completes, play the second. It would be nice if the appeared as a single movie in the sage browser.
I hadn't even tried the playlist option yet, duh! would they transition one to the next fairly quickly?

Thanks

playlist transitions pretty quick. Maybe a one second black screen, and the video info pops up IIRC.

If you are ripping the discs to the HD, why not combine the 2 files into one with something like VirtualDub or TMPGEnc and then you'll have your single movie file.

I'm not ripping them to singular mpg files.
They are in audio-ts and video-ts directories with muliple .vob's and .ifo's

You may need to import the VOBs and play them in a playlist... you can add a DVD to a playlist for whatever reason, but I don't know whether it will continue to the next video after that because I think it just goes back to the menu when the video is over.

OK, no idea then. Never tried to playlist multiple DVDs together. Are you keeping the menus as well, does the second dvd even have a menu, or are you just ripping the main movie. Maybe you could re-author a new dvd with all the content into one big movie, just a guess.

Thanks Andy I'll try that. In the meantime I'm gonna start searching for a way to combine 2 dvd's into one. That would completely solve the problem, and would appear as a single movie to sage.

Yes, leaving out the menus, extras, etc. saves a LOT of room on the 'ol hard drive!
Yes, gonna start looking for a way to re-author or combine the two
Thanks

DVD Shrink can combine two DVDs to play as a single entity. That's what I did with all the LOTR EEs. ROTK runs for almost 4 hours without a break

That is what I do too. Although I can notice the break between the 2 discs.

I haven't, but then again LOTR fades out and back in so you wouldn't notice.

There's a guide on doom9. I'd post a link, but I think that might get on shaky ground (not for this topic).

OK, I'll look around there.

I have DVD's of my Judo workouts that I would like to make into single video instead of having lots of 20min DVDs like the camera creates. I really don't want to have to re-encode them.

Thanks for the pointer,

Actually that was one of them, at least for FOTR, maybe it is just because I know it is there.

Well, what I ended up doing....
I didnt like the "shrinkDvd" option because even though it would combine the 2 discs, it still would compress them so they would fit on a dvd-9. I did not want them compressed. (the 2 disks came up to 11.7 gigs).
So I downloaded the latest dvdFab and could "customize" the size of a dvd-9 (or a dvd-5), so I bumped up the size of a dvd9 to 13 gigs.
Viola ! it merged the two into one without compressing. I now have a single "movie" at 11.7 gigs that plays flawlessly, dont even see any hesitation at the "gap".
Only needed one tool to do the job.
The only thing I dont like about it is, that while it appears as one movie, it contains two titles, so if your past the halfway mark you cant "backup" into the first title. You have to restart the movie. Plus the elapsed time progress bar is wrong. I suppose even this could be fixed if one was experienced in dvd authoring software (ifo edit, pgc edit?) so it would be just a single title with 50 chapters rather than 2 titles with 28 and 22 chapters.

Just set it to "No Compression".

Yeah, I think you'd need to do a bit more advanced reauthoring to make it one title.
