Placeshifter Display Problems w/6.3.1
HELP --
I recently installed 6.3.1 on my Sage server, clients and placeshifter on my laptop and office computer. I'm having computer display issues with Placeshifter on my laptop which is on a wireless G connection at 56mbps in my home. It starts up fine, but when I go to a new screen, the information on the old screen remains. I haven't a clue what needs to be changed or set, as I can't read a thing. I've attached a screen print of what I'm referring to. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks,

Are you using any customizations? If so, check that you have those updated because it looks like you are missing a background image.

I don't find any 3D acceleration setting in Placeshifter. What did you turn off?

I don't have any customizations running. I've completely uninstalled the application, and then reinstalled. Same problem. Any other suggestions, please? My other Placeshifter connection works just fine, so it's something about my laptop and the installed application that's hosing up. Thanks,

I had exact same problem on any PC I installed PS. I have to pray I can find the animations option and turn it off, then all is fine. I have no customizations running, stock install. It is as though PS doesn't like the new animations.

With regard to Bandit's suggestion, I was able on another Placeshifter installation to locate where the Animation Options configuration box is under Customizations. However, if that's what I need to get to, it should be a real adventure trying to find it on the computer that's giving me all these display problems. Do you have any hints as to how to get to it? Perhaps something in properties. Thanks,

The animations can be completely turned off by setting the ui/animation/core_enabled property to false, if you want to try that. But, you should probably send in a bug report for more help because I'm not sure what is causing it & if it happens to be a bug, it ought to be fixed.
Perhaps check the video card drivers on that system too. Oh -- you do have at least 1 customization running: the hidden extras. Go to System Information & turn the hidden stuff off. Also, make sure System Info reports that you are using SageTV3.xml as your STV. - Andy

I had the same problem. One placeshifter client worked just fine...another displayed the same problem that you describe with both SageMC and the default STV. My solution was to drop back to 6.2.10.
One thing that I should have tried was to delete the client property file on the Sage server. Look in the SageTV\clients folder and delete the properties file for your placeshifter client...look for the date/time of the file from when your placeshifter client was last used. I don't think it will hurt anything to delete this file. And who knows... |

I've not yet filed a bug report as it appears I'm not the only one with issues. Enough frustration for one evening.

I had the same problem. I upgraded my JRE from 1.4.2_11 to 1.6.0_03. That took care of the issue.

Good catch that was driving one of my coworkers crazy. maybe it is time that SageTV package a newer version of Java with the install.
