Confused About Hardware HVR 1600 & 1800
I just received my HVR 1800 today and installed it in the system with my HVR 1600. On the 1600 there is an audio input, but it does not fit the audio out (left/right rca) from my STB. Does any one know what kind of audio input it is so I can acquire the necessary adapter or cable? The 1800 has left/right audio inputs, but I can't control the STB. The 1800 does not have a connection for the ir blaster but it comes with an ir thingy. Do I need to buy a special ir thing to handle connecting to the 1800?

WinTV-HVR-1600 model 1178
product code 74021 (QAM is supported on only the 74021 and 74041 models) WinTV-HVR-1800 MC-Kit, model 01128 The HVR-1600 appears to have a stereo mini-jack. I'm surprised you didn't get an stereo mini-jack (male) to RCA phono-jack LEFT and RIGHT (female) adapter in the box. If it's not there then you'll have to go to an box store and get one. Quote:

Thanks for telling me what kind of audio input that is. Now I know what to ask for at Radio Shack.
The problem with the ir blaster is that the HVR 1800 doesn't come with an input/ output for the ir blaster. The 1600 came with one that plugs right in to the card, a remote and it works very well. The 1800 comes with a weird ir cable that they assume will be plugged in to something on media center but no connection on the card. I'm trying to figure out what I need to also get the 1800 to control the STB. |

I'm assuming you've read the STICKYs in the Hardware Support forum: Information Resources for Remotes, Receivers, and IR Blasters
Additionally, here's a short thread discussing the HRV-1600 and the IR Blaster The HVR-1800 has the optional USB IR receiver/transmitter (blaster) The USB box (shown far RIGHT) plugs into the SageTV server, the IR blaster cable (shown far LEFT) plugs into the USB box with the IR transmitting end placed near your cable box IR window. <><><> Some people with multiple STBs choose to avoid this and go a simpler route and set up the USB-UIRT because it can handle multiple boxes with one program. Information on that can be found in the Information Resources thread above. Last edited by Conejo; 11-20-2007 at 01:16 AM. |
