Beta Version 1.2.5 Now Available

Beta Version 1.2.5 for SageTV is now available. It is accessible via the same public FTP site as the other versions. Please take a look at the release notes to see what the changes are before you install this version.

The most notable change is that you can now Customize the User Interface from within SageTV. Go to Detailed Setup > Multimedia and click on "Customize UI". You can then cancel out of Detailed Setup and the Customize UI window will stay active. From here you can change any color setting from the top left drop down box and associate a color on the right. You can also change the background and button images. These changes are made on the fly so you can play around with different color schemes while you are in the application.

Please remember that this is a beta version so we need your feedback on any problems that arise. You can post your comments/questions here or email them to us at support@freytechnologies.com

Thanks,
Dan

Elsewhere in this forum, Jeff indicated to one poster to do a very thorough UnInstall/ReInstall (i.e. Add/Remove SageTV, Delete Frey Technologies Directory). I'm assuming this was only to hopefully clean up his particular system and not something needed by folks simply moving up to the latest Beta (in my case v1.2.4B->v1.2.5B). Do I have this right?

See Post at URL: http://www.freytechnologies.com/foru...=1644#post1644

I also noticed that the "default" Installation Directory still is C:\Program Files\Frey Technologies and not where it was last installed. I thought you had mentioned Wise Installer was supposed to be smart enough to track this. Guess that's configurable somewhere then because v1.2.5B still wants to use the C: directory I mentioned.

I like the new on-the-fly customization.

Would it be possible to make it so we can change the size and position of the buttons? It would be nice to emulate a Windows MCE style interface with the semi-transparent buttons.

I even edited an MCE desktop which I wanted to use....

I am unable to get EPG data even after using TRIAL as an access code during set-up. I am told I have 4 days left until I have to buy.....but this is disallowing me to get EPG data from the get-go

Modified Start/Stop Time Bug introduced

It does appear that something broke in the v1.2.4B->v1.2.5B upgrade.

Problem 1 - Modified Start/Stop Times don't seem to have been honored. I scheduled 2 programs tonight, 1 on each of my 2 Tuners, such that each had a 3 minute pad on the beginning and end. None of the pads were honored. In other words, the 30 minute scheduled program at 8:30 was set to record from 8:27 to 9:03. Similarly, a 60 minute scheduled program at 9:00 was set to record from 8:57 to 10:03. Both programs appeared to have actually started recording at their EPG-listed start time (i.e. my 3 minute pad at the beginning was not honored). The 60 minute program also appears to have ended right on the 10 o'clock hour - again, not honoring my 3 minute pad. Oddly, the 30 minute program seemed to have been recorded for an extra 30 minutes (but that may have been my doing as I think I actually padded it with 33 minutes just in case American Idol actually ended up being 60 minutes in contrast to the EPG-listed 30 minute duration since that has happened before. In any case, that 3 minute pad at the end also doesn't appear to have been honored.

Problem 2 - I scheduled a couple of (overlapping) 30 minute programs to start in a few minutes and applied 3 minute pads to the start and end of both. In the process, I noticed that when I select a 3 minute pad at the end (in either the EPG or while modifying in Scheduled Recordings), it actually displays 4 minutes. Indeed, playing around a bit, no matter how many minutes I select at the end, SageTV always adds 1.

Regarding Problem 1, I recall that I long ago disabled "Intelligent Recording" and I thought this might be germaine to this behavior. However, I looked in Detailed Setup General and noted that the "Enable Intelligent Recording" box in *NOT* checked. So goes that theory.

Any ideas?

Is there a new method of showing the manual recordings? The bold yellow borders of all my previous manual recordings are no longer yellow.

davedelite,

Are you clicking the 'Enter Key' button and entering the TRIAL access code there? That's not what you're supposed to do, let me know if you were so we can make that clearer. Instead, just click OK. The TRIAL access code is used when the software specifically asks you for the Access Code to connect to SageTV Service.

SHS,
I know about the Customize UI dialog, it's a limitation of modal/non-modal mixed Dialogs.

Prefiltering settings can be added to the quality settings, here's the names of the variables to use:
Integer disablefilter; // if TRUE, filter settings will be disabled.
Integer medianfilter; // 0:Disable, 1:Horizontal, 2:Vertical, 3:Horz&Vert(default), 4:Diagonal
Integer mediancoringlumahi; // 0 to 255 (default 0)
Integer mediancoringlumalo; // 0 to 255 (default 255)
Integer mediancoringchromahi; // 0 to 255 (default 0)
Integer mediancoringchromalo; // 0 to 255 (default 255)
Integer lumaspatialflt; // 0:Disable, 1:1D Horiz, 2:1D Vert, 3:2D Horz & Vert Seperatable(default), 4:2D Non Seperable
Integer chromaspatialflt; // 0:Disable, 1:1D Horz(default)
Integer dnrmode; // 0:StaticBoth, 1:StaticTime/DynamicSpace, 2:DynamicTime/StaticSpace, 3:DynamicBoth(default)
Integer dnrspatialfltlevel; // 0 to 15 (default 0) - used in static mode only
Integer dnrtemporalfltlevel; // 0 to 15 (default 0) - used in static mode only
Integer dnrsmoothfactor; // 0 to 255 (default 200)
Integer dnr_ntlf_max_y; // 0 to 15 (default 15) - max NTLF Luma
Integer dnr_ntlf_max_uv; // 0 to 15 (default 15) - max NTLF Chroma
Integer dnrtemporalmultfactor;// 0 to 255 (default 48) - temporal filter multplier factor
Integer dnrtemporaladdfactor; // 0 to 15 (default 4) - temporal filter add factor
Integer dnrspatialmultfactor; // 0 to 255 (default 21) - spatial filter multiplier factor
Integer dnrspatialsubfactor; // 0 to 15 (default 2) - spatial filter sub factor
Integer lumanltflevel; // 0 to 15
Integer lumanltfcoeffindex; // 0 to 63
Integer lumanltfcoeffvalue; // 0 to 255
Integer vimzoneheight; // 0 to 15 (default 2)

Customize MPEG option will be a little bit still.

edmc,
1-Did you try rewinding past the beginning and fastforwarding past the end? The time bar will only show the half hour of the show's airing. But if you padded it you can rewind past the beginning or fast forward past the end. Let me know if that's the confusion.

2 - that was a rounding issue, it's been fixed, thanks

John,
There was a bug in the 1.2.4->1.2.5 upgrade apparently. It's now been fixed.

It's like:

mmc/python2_encoding/GreatFiltered=videobitrate=6000000|disablefilter=0|dnrsmoothfactor=180

It's just more options for the qualities, make sense?

Nope, it wouldn't let me Rew/For past the scheduled Beginning/Ending of the scheduled program in the 60 min program case (which was unfortunate as that program overran and I missed the stuff extending beyond the 10pm EPG-scheduled end of the show). And in the 30 min program case, it only let me Play/Forward past the end. I think these may have been due to an EPG update as the 30 min program was possibly originally scheduled for 60 minutes. Don't recall - sorry.

I did not yet have a chance to check to see what happened in my simple test late last night. I sheduled 2 30 min shows each w/ 3 min pads at each end. Those 2 shows were EPG-schedule indicated to run at the same time. I'll check when I get home late tonight to see what happened.

The reason I wanted to do this test is because the 2 shows in question that had the anomaly were scheduled before I updated v1.2.4B to v1.2.5B. The 2 30 min program test I setup was obviously scheduled after the upgrade.

Hmm... If that "solves" it, I wish I had re-programmed my recordings or Survivor/CSI tonight...

Okay - I think I've seen that my guess about carrying forward a Scheduled Recording from v1.2.4B to v1.2.5B appears to have been the culprit. I've now verified this with 4 recordings - 2 having been selected while still running v1.2.4B and the other 2 selected after the upgrade to v1.2.5B.

Pads at the beginning of v1.2.4B-scheduled shows were not honored when the show actually aired following my upgrade to v1.2.5B. This was very consistent.

Pads at the end of v1.2.4B-scheduled shows were honored half the time when the show aired after the v1.2.5B upgrade.

The 2 shows scheduled after v1.2.5B was installed correctly honored the pad. In fact, as was suggested, v1.2.5B actually records with the pad but when you launch the recording, it comes up at the time the program was scheduled to stop. You can then Rewind to "negative time" by the amount of pad you added to the Start. Way cool! This is exactly the behavior I wanted. When shows start on schedule (as they usually do), I don't need to Rewind to back up to the start.

What this suggests is that folks upgrading might want to go in and re-apply any "manually scheduled recordings" if they do the pad trick. Just a thought. Perhaps something for the release notes?

One thing I did notice, however... It looks like there is one more "rounding error". I scheduled my usual 3 minute pad at the start. SageTV actually recorded 5 minutes of pad. Certainly ok with me but it does suggest that it wasn't quite what was intended. Very small nit obviously...

I still get that hanging tooltip from time to time. This time it surprisingly appeared along the top buttons. Always before it only occurred along the bottom buttons. But this is very intermittent.

ChUp/ChDn seems to have broken in v1.2.5B

A small regression - Using PageUp and PageDown keys on my keyboard is an easy way to step thru the channels rather than scrolling the EPG. Alas, this is now somewhat problematic in v1.2.5B. The most repeatable example of this is when I'm stepping up thru the 50's up to 60 and above. I get 57, then 58, then 59, then 6, then 60, then 61, etc... Don't quite understand that stop at 6.

I also notice that I can no longer simply type in a Channel Number. To get to Channel 5, for instance, I used to type 0 0 5. This no longer works.

Both of these problems sound suspiciously related to the change in v1.2.5B converting channels from Numbers to Strings. I could imagine that PageUp (ChanUp) is walking an ascendingly ordered list of channels. Well, if these are sorted as Strings, 59 is indeed followed by 6 then 61.

How can I get the beta version? I'm still on a trial, and the email I got doesn't mention how to get beta versions. I'm having a lip sync issue and I want to see if it's fixed in the latest beta as I've seen several messages suggesting that.

You should've received an email a day or two after downloading the trial version with more information on where to get the beta versions. If you didn't receive the email, send us a message at info@freytechnologies.com and we'll forward you the link.
