I have diremon set up and am running the newest version of sagetv mc and commercial skip stvi. I can see a text and edl files created but it is not skipping nor showing the commercials? Any help is appreciated.

Ok, a few problems...


1) If you're using the SageMC STV, you don't need the comskip stvi, as it already has it built in. So if you did import the comskip stvi into SageMC, just reload the original copy of SageMC.
2) For comskip files to work the computer playing back the recordings need to be able to access the edl and txt files at the same path as the computer recording the files.

This means if your recording directory is "D:\sageRecordings", it creates a recording "D:\sageRecordings\newRecord.mpg", and comskip generates at "D:\sageRecordings\newRecord.edl". Then when Sage goes to playback the recording it looks for the comskip file @ "D:\sageRecordings\newRecord.edl" which is fine if its the computer where the recording exists, but if its a client on a different computer and the path "D:\sageRecordings\newRecord.edl" doesn't exist, it won't be able to find the comskip file. Thus the recording will playback fine, but the comskip file won't load.

The easy way to fix this is to turn all of your recording directories into equivelent UNC paths.

If I change all the directories to UNC, will this still over the Internet, where the SageTV Placeshifters won't have access to UNC shares?
