i thought MKV file where supported now??
so i've been downloading some HD mkv files lately and they dont show up in my libraries, the only way to get them to show up is to rename the extension from .mkv to .avi, that seems to do the trick, but i get no audio. if i go thru the "play other file" to the folder where they are located i can see them even when they are named .mkv but when i click on them and they start playing but no sound comes out of them again.
im using sagemc but even if i switch to the default stv i get the same thing, still no files in the library. i thought i read in one of the last updates that sage 6.3 was supporting mkv files? was i wrong?? btw im using 6.2.10.152, java 1.6 and sagemc 6.3.6b using nvidia decoder for mpg's and ffdshow for other videos, ac3 for audio |

Remember that .MKV is a file CONTAINER type. You can put almost any audio or video codec (and more?) into the container. You may just need the codec that you are missing.
You really need to find out what codecs were used to make the file, and make sure the playback machine has them. |

+1 on the above.
Also, in order to get Sage to scan the files so that they show up in the library, you probably need to add .mkv to the import file types in sage.properties. Make sure Sage is Completely shut down, service included, before you edit sage.properties.

You would need to upgrade to 6.3.x to get the features introduced with 6.3
