Problem accessing video/audio from SageTV client

Hi,

I have setup SageTV server and installed SageMC, and everything runs fine directly on the server. However, when I tried to access video stored on the server from SageTV client installed on a notebook, I kept on getting error saying file system is not accessible. Any idea on why this is happening?

I have tried setting the path as local drive on the server as well as a network path which I have shared with read access, but both did not work for the SageTV client. The server is a XP home system.

Any help is appreciated.

On the server ensure the import directory is mapped to the share, not the local drive, eg: \\servername\sharename\folder one of mine is "\\mediasrv\media1\video". Obviously first you have to make sure the sharename is there on the server.... usually the share name is the same as the folder you are sharing.

On your server open the windows file explorer and try putting the share in the address bar and make sure you can browse the share..... this is also a good test to try from the laptop. If you can see it there then you should see it in sage.

This ensures both server and client access the videos using the same path.
