Angry 2600 pro not cutting it?

I got a visontek radeon HD 2600 pro after reading favorable comments about it here, for my 720 P HDTV. It has 512 MB of RAM.

I doesn't really give smooth playback of HD content through Sage. There is a lot of jerky-ness in fast action, and blockiness here and there.

This is in an XP system, 3800 Athlon, 1 GB RAM.

GPU reports that it's running at 94% when HD is playing.

I can still take the video card back 'till next week. Is the 2600 the problem, or do I need more RAM or something?

Thanks!

It sounds like hardware acceleration (dxva) is not enabled. What decoder are you using?

Aloha,
Mike

Yeah, this should work fine. I have one and the avivo codec works well, and even powerdvd 7 works fine when the proper options are selected. This is a great card to use with Sage.

I have no problems either. After checking hardware acceleration, try the tweaks that are posted on the AVS forum.

Aloha,

In Sage setup, I select "ATI MPEG decoder", which I suppose is the decoder that came with the card. I also have "enable 3D accel" checked.

I'll fiddle around with it some more. Reassuring to hear that it can be done with this card.

Make sure you are in VMR9 mode with FSE under XP, and set the decoder settings in the CCC control panel.

What rev of drivers are you using?
