Client stutter with Realtek 8168 GigE
This took me a while to figure out. I am running latest Linux Sage server on CentOS 5.1 with custom kernel 2.6.22. Windows clients stutterd or showed severely jerky motion (May be linux clients as well, but I didn't have any). Finally traced this down to network problems. My network card is a built in Realtek 8168 GigE. This adapter works fine for normal usage. But breaks (frequent pauses in activity) under HD streaming. I've tried the drivers included in the kernel as well as Realtek drivers from their website and it is broken on both. Added a really old D-Link 10/100 card and everything is fine.
Just thought I'd post here to save others some debugging time. Thanks Sarat. |

Works in 2.6.23-16
Upgraded my kernel to 2.6.23-16 and it appears to work fine now.
