the more people that report issues to them the more data they'll have to try to figure out whats going on. the hardest thing for me is going back to the default STV and waiting on things to mess up. STVi's clutter the logfile so much it's difficult for the Devs to wade through it.

that being said, I've cut out the upcoming movies stvi and the autocompress stvi since one is already included (IIRC) and the other isn't needed anymore since the HD100. So far I haven't had any problems crop up, but it hasn't been a full 7 days since the last hiccup as others have reported.

At this point I think you should report the issue once and then just wait. I think you should report it just in case it is not a new or different issue. Sage support is sure that they have seen this issue and is trying to resolve it. I would think that it will take at least weeks if not months to resolve the issue. I can sometimes run several days without seeing the issue. Once the problem has been found and corrected, I would have to run at least 7 days without seeing the issue to insure the problem has been corrected.

Has anyone else seen this situation:
Watching a recorded show or imported video, then hit stop and every once and a while my HD100 pops up live TV. I wasn't watching live TV prior to starting the video but I attempt to stop the live and normally it's fine but sometimes this triggers the lockup. I don't recall this behavior on my MVP or Server/Client. It's almost as if my HD extender (or Server) thinks I was watching multiple streams.

Just wondered if anyone else has seen this or if this may have something to do with the lockups.

Yes, I've noticed that myself. I haven't had it happen consistently though.

I had my first experience with the total-lock-up-need-to-physically-powercycle-the-HD100 problem.
I happened to be collecting log data due to a different problem and sent the data to Sage support.

It would be nice to get a word that they have an idea as to the cause of the problem and are working on a solution, or if they want people to keep sending them log data, etc.

I doubt if they know what the cause of the problem is, that is the hard part. I would not send a log unless they request it, the log is of little or no value with this issue. The problem appears to be local within the extender itself.

My lockups started with the last firmware update, before that it was fine. I also noticed that when I play a recorded show or live tv, it cuts the video signal for 1 to 2 seconds when it switches from the UI to the video. It never did this until the most recent update. My TV says that the video signal is gone and then comes back once the show starts to play.

At this point, I know that I will have to cycle the power on the extender every 1-2 days. I am sure there is nothing new here.

mine has the same cutout. came back that way from an RMA. seems to only be on the HDMI port though. optical out isn't affected. since I disabled all the debug stuff on the server my lockups have been lessened to about once a week on average.

Yep mine does this also. It happens at least once a day, some days are better then others. I just unplug the HD extender, wait a few seconds and plug it back in.

It also has problems when left on over night. I usually have to unplug it in the morning to get it going again.

You should not have to unplug it. Worst case you can use the switch on the back of the unit. If you are willing to wait 3-4 minutes you should find that the power button on the the remote will start working again.

Have you tried using the remote power button with the overnight problem?

I was having daily lockups with my HD Extender that could only be cured with a service stop/start on the server. Cycling the HD100 wouldn't fix it. I was getting ready to ditch Sage for something else, then I tried the suggestion in this thread on a whim and the problem hasn't happened in over a week. Worth a try...it might solve the issue for some of you.

Has anyone received any answers on curing the random lockups ? Tried all the suggestions but still get about one a day. Only way to fix is to turn the HD100 off using the main power switch.

It seems that lockups are so rare now (maybe every couple weeks) that I sort of accept it. I don't know what has changed.

Same here, I think I have a lock-up once every 2-3 weeks, not a big deal. I am more interested in getting my 1080i mode back (but that's for another thread).

Well, the HD100 locks up once a day here. Sure would be nice to hear about a solution.

Looked at the beta firmware release and no mention of any cure.

Ain't computers fun ??

I have 2 of the HD100s and I've been very lucky to have almost no lockups so far. When I installed the beta firmware, I started getting lockups at the same point in a file every time I tried to play it. This happened with several recordings so I just went back to the production firmware (0204) and it works fine on the same files.

The easiest way (and the way I did this time) is if the one you're trying to replace is beta. I went to the firmware updates page and didn't enter the 2382 code to go to beta mode. When I told it to look for updates, it found the latest production and installed it.

Had my first lockup yesterday, on an imported video that SageTV was in the process of importing the video. Could that possibly be the cause or coincidence? Power cycled the extender and then the video played fine.
