STX HD-100 HDMI Issues
Everytime I connect the HD100 to my Olevia 42" TV via HDMI, I get a horrible green flickering picture. Sometimes, after video has been playing for a few seconds, it will fix itself. Other times, the video will stop flickering, but will have a green tint. Many times, once the flickering has started, it will infect the whole menu system, even when no video is being played. Has anyone else had any issues with this? I have a cheap HDMI cable. I wonder if this is the problem? It works fine with my Comcast box. I do have to say the s-video connection is very, very good. I will, however try a higher quality HDMI cable and if that doesn't work, I guess I'll settle for component input. Thanks for your suggestions and help!

I don't see green with my HDMI connection.
You will see flickering as the box and the TV handshake and decide on a resolution - such as when you first power up the box. But, once that's done all should be good. I would start by blaming the cable. Also, you don't need to spend big bucks on HDMI cables. Just get one (or two - it's always nice having extra cables lying around) from monoprice.com. Mitch |

I have 2 monoprice 6ft cables. I do not get the green but I get what I would call "a sandy" looking picture on my new Panasonic 1080P plasma. I only record HD OTA "stuff" and I wonder if I have a wrong setting somewhere that is causing me not to get the "full" stream?

Have you calibrated the HDMI input at all? And preferably calibrated it through the Sage system itself? That's where I would start. If you don't have a calibration DVD, check your library or local video store. If that's no good, I would at least find a thread about your TV on AVS forum and see if anyone has posted settings for the TV's HDMI input. Or, if nobody has, ask. The purists will say that you need to calibrate for your room, etc. but using other's calibrated settings will get you easily 80% of the way there. Mitch |

Just plugged mine in, using HDMI (1080i), and the output looks like it's too bright/overexposed. I only had a few minutes to play with it, but didn't see anything that would allow me to adjust these settings through SageTV itself. I don't want to adjust my TV since my other inputs look fine.
I only had the green flicking picture once when I set it up (during the firmware update process), but haven't seen it since. |

From what I've seen w/ my HD LCD the calibration settings are stored on a per-input basis. Some older sets might not be, but I believe most of the new ones are that way. At least they should be as cheap as non-volatile memory is these days.

Even some of the newer 1080p Samsung LCD's I callibrated recently won't let me do this per input. However, I'm interested in learning how to do this through Sage, since one of the previous posts seems to indicate this is possible.

I believe that was referring to running a calibration video through SageTV so that you can calibrate the display off it.
